The bright, morning sun shone threw the window, it's rays landing on (Y/N)'s eyes, forcing her to awaken from her sleep. She sat up, stretching out her arms and groaning. She rubbed her eyes and yawned. Her hair sprung out in multiple different directions, twisting and turning every which way.

(Y/N) stared at the wall in front of her with weak, heavy eyes. Suddenly, her alarm clock went off, signaling her to get ready for school.

"Of course I woke up before my alarm went off," she muttered to herself. "Just my luck."

She rolled out of bed, pushing her sheets over so that she climb out and get ready for a brand new day of school. She stumbled over to the door, reaching for the shiny, brass doorknob. Just as she did so, the door swung open for her. Staring back at her was her seven year old brother, Dylan.

"Hey (Y/- oh, you're actually awake," he said. He was wearing his Pokémon pajamas with pikachu all over the bottoms and on the front of his shirt. His dark, brown hair was just as messy as hers. He had big, glassy emerald green eyes, just like their mother.

"What do you want, squidgey?" she asked, chuckling and messing with his hair.

"Mom made pancakes for breakfast this morning since she had the day off at work. Do you want chocolate chips or bananas in yours? Or, would you rather have them plain?"

"Chocolate chips sounds great. Thanks, squidge."

     "Anytime, pleb."

She giggled to herself, turning around and shutting the door. They enjoyed calling each other by nicknames. (Y/N) didn't know what she would do without her younger brother.

(Y/N) walked up to the closet, pulling out the perfect outfit to match her aesthetic. It was her absolute favorite, and she always felt the most confident while wearing it.

(Y/N) was slightly above average when it came to popularity at her school, which she didn't mind. She wasn't neglected, and people would give her her space, too. Most of her classmates liked her, and that was just perfect. Her life was in a great place.

Her closest friend was a short, red-headed girl with sparkling, blue eyes named Natalie. They had been best friends since the first grade, and they didn't fight often. She also had a guy friend, Brian, who was taller than (Y/N). His hair was as black as midnight, and his eyes were nearly just as dark. He was a newer friend, as she had only just opened herself up to the boys at her school recently.

Some of them weren't as bad as she anticipated.

     Others were.

When she finished putting on her outfit, she opened the door. The sweet smell of buttermilk pancakes immediately washed over her. (Y/N) sniffed the air, letting out a sigh. She followed the trail of scent out into the kitchen, where Dylan was sitting down at the dinner table, gorging himself. (Y/N) laughed at him, making him smile.

Their mom was standing in front of the stove, flipping pancakes on the griddle. She was an elegant little lady, with rays of sunshine in her short, silky hair that had been styled into a textured bob. She stood a few inched shorter than (Y/N), which seemed to get the attention of her friends, who jumped at the chance to tease her for being shorter than her daughter.

When she noticed (Y/N) standing in the doorway of the kitchen, she smiled at her warmly.

"Good morning, sleepyhead. How'd you sleep?" she asked while scooping up pancakes and plopping them down on ceramic plates.

"Fine." Actually, she didn't sleep very well. She had one of her terrible dreams about her dad. Though she wasn't there when it happened, she had frequent nightmares about how he died.

He had just been promoted at work, and he was bringing home a cake to celebrate. They lived near one of the busiest highways in town, and car accidents happened there frequently. Well, that same day, (Y/N)'s dad was driving down that same road, trying to get home to his family. A semi-truck going the opposite direction had been driving on the same way. For reasons no one knows, the truck accidentally drove into the wrong lane, and it collided with her dad's car.

Dylan looked up from his now clean plate, watching as (Y/N) took her loaded plate to the table. They talked back and forth with one another until she finished her breakfast. She looked at her watch, seeing that she was going to be late for school. She bid her mother and her brother goodbye, stepping out the door and walking down the sidewalk to her school.

Error watched the girl from behind a luscious, green shrub. His eyes followed her as she walked past him, unaware the she was being stalked.

Error didn't exactly know why he was drawn to this girl in particular. It could've been her (short/long), (H/C) hair that blew gracefully in the wind. Or, maybe it was her bright, doll-like (E/C) eyes that drove him mad. But, there was something about her that drew him to her.

He had never felt this way about anyone before, much less a human. Error was cold hearted and cruel, and didn't like anyone at all. But, she won him over. He couldn't approach her or talk to her, as he didn't want to scare her away.

Suddenly, a loud SNAP sounded from beneath his feet. He flinched and looked down, seeing a thick, broken twig beneath his slipper clad foot. He panicked, noticing that (Y/N) had heard the branch being crushed under his weight. (Y/N) pulled back the leaves and sticks in the shrub, peering into it to locate who was spying on her.

At the last moment, Error quickly snapped his fingers, teleporting away.

To her surprise, nothing was where she had heard the noise. (Y/N) could've sworn that she heard a twig breaking from behind the shrub. She just shrugged, turning away and walking towards the school once again.
