James, currently crouching behind the air conditioning unit, was beginning to wonder why he was down there in the first place, he was cloaked and nobody could see him.

This was confirmed as a citrus smelling Synapse passed him and conversed with Inferno. James watched as she laughed, the sound making his heart race for some odd reason.

He saw how Inferno threw a duffel bag of money to Synapse, and how her grin somehow faltered at the look of it. Strange.

The wind blew, scattering her strawberry blonde curls behind her- twisting and turning into a sweet smelling jumble of silky hair. He was almost worried they would get caught in the orange glowing cracks along Inferno's hand, almost like embers.

James finally sat up as he saw Arachno transform back into her human form, and Gone Gal race behind Inferno and Synapse and toward his hiding spot.

He moved to the side, allowing Gone to sit next to him.

"Do they have any backup?" Gone whispered to James, which she somehow sensed he was there.

He uncloaked his head, a tingling sensation drifting down his neck. He shook his head no, not wanting to give away his spot.

James watched as Kip tried to suppress a smile and was unsuccessful. They were finally going to get one of the deadly duo- Inferno or Synapse.

Kip's vision was fixed on Synapse, who was walking in circles around Arachno girl- who was trying to hide her nerves. But James was paying attention to Inferno, who slid around the brick wall and flew off into the night- with the money.

He could of stopped him from leaving with the money, but why even try?

James moved his gaze back to Synapse, who was sporting a malicious grin across her face and twirling a piece of Arachno's short hair.

"Now, why would a superhero like you," She spat, "show up without backup?"

James elbowed Kip and she smiled, "Guess that's my cue."

He watched as Kip dashed to stand beside Arachno, subtly pushing her behind to protect her. James smiled as he thought of Kip's typically protective nature.

"Ah, of course. Her shadow." Synapse sneered at the sight of Gone Gal, and James almost let out a snort. True, in a sense they were a duo- almost connected at the joints type of in sync with each other-  but the reality was that they were a trio; Arachno, Gone Gal, and Him.

So aren't I the shadow?

James cloaked his face again, letting the feeling of dripping water flow over him. He watched as Kip growled something at Synapse after she had cracked a joke, and tried to punch her. For some reason her fist went down- almost involuntarily.
