Being a high school student with a name like Alex seems like a pretty normal story. But each and every person has their own unique and different story. Of course being 17 and in high school means that my life is full of drama that I would be so much better without. And my drama... is about love.
Let me give you an outline of how things are in my life. We're a group of 7 friends and of course with a large group like that, I don't need other people to hang out with, which also lead to falling in love with one of them. Rose Waters, not only is she my girlfriend for a whole year now but also she is Sam's sister.
He is more than a friend to me, he's always been my brother, my family that I haven't seen for god knows how long. But he is also one of the reasons that made things difficult between me and Rose. Whenever we're having a fight, Sam is standing between us. Shooting me daggers with his eyes; mentally warning me from hurting his sister.
Well, long story short, this is how my life used to be, but one thing I did learn from life, is that nothing stays the same.
Chapter 1
"Alex," said Rose in a voice that used to be alluring, now I feel nothing. "Alex will you please look at me for one second!" she repeated this time kicking me in my leg. "Ouch, what was that for?" Now I looked up from my phone to find her wearing a red velvet maxi dress.
"Wow." I gaped as I eyed her up and down. That sure is something. She is the only 16 year old I know that can wear off a dress like that. "You like it?" She smiled at me genuinely. "I can't decide yet, can you give me a spin, please?" I said innocently. She grinned before swirling in her spot.
The dress flew off the floor as she picked up her speed. "Whoa there," I stepped towards her and put my hands on her waist to steady her. She laughed before leaning into my chest and wrapping her arms around me.
"I love you." She said. Immediately guilt smeared through me. "Yeah, um, I love you, too." I rambled quickly. "Are you done yet? I'll go pay for the dress and leave you change." I tried to smile but failed miserably and left before she started asking me questions on why I'm acting weirdly.
"That would be 300$." Said the lady at the cashier. I got out my visa and watched as she swiped it then gave me the little machine to write in my password. "Thank you for visiting us; hope you come back soon." She beamed with the fakest smile I ever saw.
"Do you really think the dress is nice?" Rose asked for the millionth time.
"Rose, dear, you know that when I don't like something, I say it out loud. I would never let you wear something that doesn't look absolutely beautiful on you. You know that right?"
She grinned widely then stood on her tiptoes and pecked me on my lips. Again, guilt flushed me whole. How long is this going to go on?
I am not physically cheating on her, hell; I'm not cheating on her at all. If only thinking about another girl is considered cheating. Well, then I am cheating on her.
However, every word I told her is true, I do love her, but she's my little sister, she's Sam's sister.
"I'll come back to pick you up at 6 sharp, please be ready by then, please." I said as I dropped her off at her house.
"But, Alex, 6 is too early! That means I have only 5 more hours to get ready!" she joked before getting out of the car and waved one last time then entered the house.
I started the engine and heard it roar to life then drove away, escaping from what I have put my life in a year ago.
I parked in my drive way but decided to go over to Bella's house and say Hi. Her house was right next to mine with our windows opposite of each other.
I rang the door bell once and immediately Tessa -Bella's little sister - opened the door.
"LEXY," she squealed then she literally jumped on me. I caught her mid air and hugged her. She wrapped her tiny legs around my waist and her skinny arms around my neck.
She scrunched up her nose then started poking me all over my face "Why. Don't. You. Come. And. Play. With. Me. Any. More?" She asked between pokes. I laughed and walked inside, I wasn't a stranger to the house. I've known Bella since I can remember. As for Tessa I was there 7 years ago while she was getting pulled out of her mother's belly. She's been the sister I always wanted since then.
"Tess, will you please stop annoying Alex?" Bella said as she descended down the stairs. One word. Beautiful.
I snapped out of my train of thoughts by Tessa still poking me. "Tell Bell that you deserve the poking Lexy." She was pouting innocently, "I really do deserve to be punished in any way Tessy chooses, but first, I want to apologize properly." I placed her on the floor and removed the black curls from her forehead and behind her ears. I sat down on one knee, and got a chocolate bar from my back pocket and said, "Tessa Evans, will you honour me, and accept my apology?" she grinned widely before giving me a kiss on the cheek, and a bear hug then snatched the chocolate bar and ran off yelling, "I FORGIVE YOU, ALEX SMITH." And like that she disappeared up the stairs.
I looked over to Bella who was staring at me with a smile that made my insides melt. How come I've never noticed before how beautiful she is? Well, I did notice since the first time I saw her, she just took my breath away. But for some reason I can't explain I kept hiding these feeling away.
