My hands floated back down to my pocket, my phone was still there. I had my bag, all of my books, it was a nice day outside, and I wore what I thought was a cute outfit for my first day of college but I was starting to doubt it now. I stopped outside the door. All I had to do was reach forward and grab the handle with an authority that set first impressions to everyone inside, easy. I could feel my brain trying to come up with any way to stall as it could. Eventually, I would have to go inside I just didn't feel like it was quite the right moment yet. After all, This would be a memory for me to have for the rest of my life and tell to my future kids. UGH! Stop thinking, just go, Bee.
Using the sides, I pushed up my glasses. It was a nervous habit that started when I first got glasses in high school. Right about now I wished I could hide behind them so no one would notice me. How is possible to feel like I don't know what I'm doing, but be as prepared as I possibly can at the same time??
"Hey there!" A friendly voice ripped me out of my internal struggle. "I'm Violet."
It took me a second to register that I should probably answer her.
"I-I'm Bee." I cringed at myself for using a baby name but right now I feel like a baby, it really is hard to believe that I am a legal adult.
The stranger gave me a strange little smile and thrust out her hand. After pushing up the large frame of my glasses again I grabbed her hand and shook it twice. As she talked I fidgeted with the strap of my leather book bag.
"Bee. Is that short for something?"
"Uh... Yeah!" I shook my head. "Beatrice."
This idea for a story is really new and I haven't planned it all that much, but I hope you liked it!I'm not sure how I want the story to progress yet, but I love the plot so far. If you really did like it, please give me some feedback!
