Annalise's POV

Today we are supposed to be practicing our plan for taking the neighboring city. I don't actually know what it's called. I've been told my knowledge of our country(I don't know what it's called either) is limited.

I feel like we shouldn't need to practice because the city might do something unexpected. Of course my idea was tossed aside.

"Annalise you go out first and create a distraction," Eryn yelled

"How?" I screamed back, even though he stood about a yard away from me.

"What was that for?" Eryn snarled.

"My personal delight," I answered back, smiling like a lunatic.

"Okay enough we need to get to that war strategy," Eryn yelled.

"I already told you, what if the city does something unexpected," I asked.

"Yes, what if, Annalise," Eryn answered calmly, "Alright I need ideas so, shoot."

Everyone started shooting random ideas at Eryn, some were actually good and some were to see if he was listening. I could care less about our strategy though. No matter what we do I will still end up going in first and distracting guards by doing something stupid like steal vegetables.

"Okay, we got our plan, so this is what's going to happen-" Eryn started.

I completely blocked out the conversation, it wasn't like I had to try with my part. Back when I lived in the city I would steal things all the time, didn't matter when.

The conversation was boring but I listened to part of it anyway. I was going to go in through the front gates and steal something valuable. Then Hanna and Ebony will sneak around to the back gates with Yaxel and Maria. Hanna and Ebony will distract the guards around the castle while Yaxel and Maria sneak into the castle. Once inside they will do whatever they choose so as to get the ruler to bow down to Vercily. It was a simple plan that was almost fool-proof and yet I still didn't like it.

"Five minutes!" Eryn yelled, "Get in position!"

Knowing full well how much trouble I could get in if I disobeyed him, I ran to my station and prepared myself for a whole lot of stealing, or as I called it scavenging.

"Thirty seconds," Eryn screamed.

I took a deep breath and opened the box to trigger the alarm. I looked around at my teammates as some gave me a thumbs up, saying they were ready. I steadied my breathing and slammed my hand on the alarm. I then sprinted into the streets as the alarm blared into my mind.

I ran into the first store I saw and completely raided it. As I ran out of the store I remembered that I had to distract the guards and not get caught.

On my way to the next store, the jewelry shop that I was about to raid before being recruited. I sprinted through the glass window, immediately triggering a theft alarm.
