So, you're trying to make a song. Let's figure this out.
1. Have your instruments.
Obviously.
2. Guitarists, bassits, new strings, and tune your goddamn instruments.
3. Drummers, go get new heads.
4. Have something to record with. Fourtracks, your phone, (If you're gonna use your phone, except shitty quality.) Computer, or a studio. (Not a garage. Unless its soundproof, because Unreasonable noise is basically illegal in California.)
5. Practice as much as you fucking can.
6. As I said, unreasonable noise is illegal in California. So use matresses, pillows blankets, whatever to block out the noise.
7. Use a metronome to figure out the tempos.
8. If someone is recording for you, Take criticism. Don't get butthurt. Accept the fact that you suck, you're rushing, or dragging.
And, if you want to make an album, expect to make 30 or more demos. Those demos will turn into more songs. You'll eventually have 50 songs. Most albums are usually an hour long, with 15 tracks. If you want to follow that 15 track 1 hour rule, you'll have to make all of your songs 3 minutes long.
Making the songs:
- A catchy tune. Catchy enough to be played in Guitar Center. Catchy enough to be on the radio. Catchy enough to be on someone's Spotify Playlist. Get it? Yeah.
- If you have a melody, your singers probably gonna spit out their thoughts, or anything as lyrics. I know a lot of people who do this. It's kind of hard to write lyrics without a melody.
- Sound effects, transitions.
Most transitions in songs are vocals. (Ex: Country Sad Ballad Man by Blur. or just go for a transition like Little Black Submarines.
- Starting a song, it can start off with a vinyl popping or clicking, a cd case closing, a cassette being put in a tape player, yeah. Almost any thing can start or end a song. Or, you could just straight up start or end it with no sound effects.
Naming the song:
It can be lyrics from the song, or something else. It should be something easy to remember, and not something long. Most song names are one - four words long.
Putting it on the Album:
You might want to save that song for the A Sides, or put it on the studio album. 15 songs go to the A Sides, and the other 15 go to  the studio Album. Transitions are kind of important. Interludes work just fine, or Maybe make the album sound like a whole by smooth transitions. You do you, hun. You do you.
Speaking of the A Sides, A sides are usually considered Compilation Albums. So, why not allow some people to remix your songs? Put them on the A Sides.
