Viktor POV

'Tonight's the night, the night where you win her' Viktor gulped just thinking about her made him nervous. That's why he needed harry. Hermione needed something perfect and Viktor knew he couldn't do it alone

He grabbed his keys and drove to Hermione's house, gently humming along to the radio to distract himself. He swerved to avoid a jackass in a porsche, and continued to Hermione's house. The moment he saw her in her red short dress, he got down on one knee, knowing he could never have waited any longer.

'Viktor? What are you doing?' Words finally failed Hermione and she gasped soflty.

'Hermione Jean Granger. Every moment with you has been a pleasure and so difficult not to kiss you or love you but i gave up. What's the point in something fake when you want something real so... will you marry me'

'Yes!' For the first time in her life, Hermione forgot to think but she didn't need to. Every thing with Viktor came so easy- her train of thought cut off by a firm kiss, Viktor smiling and hugging her tight.

Ron POV

It dawned on him suddenly, as he caught the quaffle for what seemed like the hundredth time against his pathetic quidditch team, if they could still call them that. He was alone again. He didn't like it one bit. Sure, he had girlfriends but that was for his image and, well, he liked the security.

He flew of the pitch, picked up his bag, and strode out without a word to the coach. The coach sighed. Ron was a brilliant keeper but he was an asshole, a terrible captain and only turned up to games if he felt like it. But when he did, no goal would go in and, when there was a girl he liked, he would kick the ball straight through the opposing team's posts. He would blow a kiss and linger too long with the pretty young girl while whichever model was unfortunate enough to be dating him, dragged him away. He was a terrible boyfriend, an awful alcoholic and generally a bad person. But, he was what the team needed, so the coach put up with him.

Ron yawned and opened up his outrageously expensive new sport car, a porsche spyder and drove off not once glancing at the speedometer. He glanced at the paper laying beside him, which he hadn't had a chance to read yet. On the front cover was Hermione, in a stunning blue dress with Viktor by her side. He was holding heels and walking in his socks while she was laughing and wearing polished black shoes. The way he looked at her made Ron want to look away but he couldn't bring his eyes away from the guy who had won Hermione heart and unlike him deserved it. A tear rolled down his cheek. As soon as Ron left Hermione, every thing had gone wrong.

Ron didn't know what made him do it. He drove to her house. He was going to apologize, try harder. But when he saw Viktor on one knee and their kiss, he knew he had lost. His last ray of hope had been snatched away without a second glance. With tears in his eyes he wrote a note explaining everything, and left it on the ground.

He had lost everything.

He didn't see the point.

He drove to the long, high bridge near Hermione's house and climbed over to the edge. He didn't want the drama, he just wanted his world to stop hurting. He looked long and hard into the swirling water below that would snap his life away without hesitation. he snapped his wand. It wasn't going to help him now.

He braced himslef to jump when a familiar face grabbed his hand. It was Harry.

'Viktor thought he saw you here. You weren't going to jump were you?' Ron started to really hate Viktor from that moment on. Harry shrugged and hugged him hard.

'You've got a lot of problems, but don't take the cowards way out. Facing them hurts sometimes but that's just life'
