November 23rd, 8th grade.

I was sitting on the bench with my headphones in. The volume was turned so high it hurt, the song was one of my favorites. I was alone on this bench, so I closed my eyes and leaned my head back. The song was almost over, my favorite verse was ending when I felt a finger tap my shoulder.

"What song re you listening to?" A boy asked me.

The boy was had had short, curly red hair, black glasses, and enough freckles for 3 gingers just on his face. He was probably twice as big as me, broad chested and long legs with a surprising amount of muscle on them for an 8th grader. Even with a loser t-shirt on, it could not hide the impressive muscles on his chest and stomach. I was stunned by his overwhelming body that I almost for got his question.

" Um... I'm listening to 'Space Bound'" I said.

Why was this totally hot kid talking to me when he could be messing with Angela Smith? I wasn't popular, I wasn't overly pretty, I had very few assets in my figure, I wasn't really special in any way. This boy had no real reason for this boy to come and talk to me.

"That's one of my favorite songs. My name's Chase Parkers, and you would be?" He asked wearing a stunning crooked smile.

"My names Victoria Murner. This is my favorite song." I said, not able to do anything other than return the smile.

"That's a beautiful name, very original," he said, the already huge smile spreading even wider across his face.

I looked down, the smile on my face had been followed by my face getting hot.

"Thank you...Chase," I said.

We started talking about Eminem, our families, anything we could think of. We had a few classes together, he sat next to me in all of them. When the final bell rang he surprised me at the door to the pick-up section.

"I'm new in town, so I don't really know anyone. I was wondering if you wanted to go somewhere with me tonight?" Chase asked me.

I was taken completely by surprise, ya we had had a good time today, but I didn't think he was into me like that. Of course I wanted to go somewhere with him.

"I would love to go somewhere with you, but you would need to meet my parents first," I told him.

This time he laughed, not loud or rudely, but like he was amused at the idea of my parents needing to meet him before we went somewhere. I raised an eyebrow, hoping he would get the questine in my eyes, he got it.

"I'm sorry if I'm being rude, but your the first girl I've ever asked out and that is exactly what I thought you would say. I'm just amused that it actually went that way. I would love to meet your parents," he said in between giggles.

It was just then that a honk came from the car behind us. I turned around to see my mom and dad waiting in the car. I motioned for Chase to follow me to the car and he did. My parents exchanged looks and smiles as we made our way to the car. Dad rolled down the window and stuck his hand out.

"Charles Murner, what's your name son?" Dad asked Chase.

"I'm Chase Parkers," Chase replied

"So why have you come to meet my wife and I today Chase?" My dad questioned further.

"I was wanting to take Victoria out tonight and when I asked her she said that you would want to meet me before hand. I apologize for not thinking of that before I asked her," replied Chase.

"Apology accepted Mr. Parkers. Where do you plan to take Victoria?" Dad persued.

"Well, I plan on taking her to see a movie uptown, whatever movie Victoria choos', and then going to The Coffee Shop afterwards. Or vise-versa," Chase answered.
