"weak..."
"pathetic..."
"worthless..."
the words kept resonating in valt's mind like a loud echo, a whisper he couldn't get rid of. he tried resisting what the voices said. he knew they couldn't be right.. or could they? right? the dark horse couldn't be any of those things, but the more he listened, the more he fell victim to those words.
valt wondered if everyone and everything would be better off without him. he did think they'd probably be happier without the constant hyperactive, never give up, smiling blue hedgehog boy.
but that was it.
the hyperactivity and smile was a mere disguise he wore for his friends, if he could call them that. he told himself that was the best method of hiding away the pain.
valt sat upright with a sudden shock, having realized he'd been lying down on his bed awake for a good ten minutes. he noticed his throat gradually growing colder, and dreams settled him as he tried to remember how to breathe.
after rolling around and falling of his bed, he regained a steady breathing pattern and stood up. he walked over to his window and opened the curtain to reveal a dark, gloomy night sky. his gaze fell upon his clock, which read six forty five am in bright green lettering and numbering.
valt knew he had a while left to sleep, but a gut feeling convinced him to remain awake. he decided to go downstairs and look for a snack, but halfway he remembered the other beyclub members teasing him about his eating habits.
maybe he could change.
fix forty eight am... today was the day they all decided to plan strategies for the upcoming tournament. he collected himself and prepared himself for the day, as they were meeting right after school.
he walked with soft footsteps, making sure to not wake his siblings and mother, and made it to the restroom before turning on the water faucet in the restroom.
plastered on the wall was a chart his mom had put up on the wall years ago so valt could record his height and weight, as a reminder of his growing body.
"i used to be so light..."
he pulled out the weight scale from underneath the sink and stood on it.
seventy two pounds.
he looked down as his body and immediately recognized his flaws. maybe I do need to lose some weight, or maybe go on a diet. maybe shu will be proud of me if I stick to it!
he got ready for school and walked out, muttering a "see you guys later," before finally leaving.
『 later 』
valt arrived at school slightly earlier, yet kids were still walking around preparing for the upcoming boredom of class.
he was pretty enthustiastic about sharing his ideas to help out the beyclub at the tournament. valt arrived at the rooftop door and swung it open, failing to realize his excitement already derailing for no reason.
he mindlessly dug around the pocket of his vest and found a small piece of a wrapped, yet partially uneaten chocolate bar.
"i knew it, valt!" valt turned around and to his dismay the rest of the beyclub has showed up. wakiya continued his tirade and yelled, "i knew you'd be eating by the time you got here! that much sugar, combined with the beybread, will kill faster than anything physical, but hey, knock yourself out."
the blue haired male was speechless, and quite frankly a bit saddened, but nonetheless he pulled out his launcher with a forced grin and challenged shu.
the only person he likes.
well, xander too, but that was different. they practiced and battled until everyone had worn themselves out and settled for endless conversations.
