"THE TIME IS 7 IN THE MORNING, SATURDAY, 30TH OF SEPTEMBER, YEAR 2153. LIGHTS HAVE BEEN TURNED DIM."
I had been awake for half an hour even before my robot alarm went off. Maybe my body subconsciously knew that today is a big day, and that something new is going to happen, so it woke itself up earlier than usual.
Drinking the last of my coffee, I stand up to put it in the sink. I have already eaten my self-made breakfast as well. I am ready to do this.
I use my phone to find a vehicle able to take me for a quick drive to the school, since the school vehicle itself is inoperable during weekends. I exit the flat through the front door as I hear the vehicle down the street.
To no one's surprise, it is completely deserted outside even at 7 AM. Evidently, this is due to that abhorrent schedule they set up, but I paid no attention to it since I'm leaving anyway. And the possible punishments, I completely ignored.
Arriving at school, the robot that guards the entrance gate was turned off to save power, so I was free to enter all I wanted. With two bags slung over my shoulders, I briskly walk to my sanctuary. However today, the word gateway would be more fitting. The dim lights help me a lot in hastily going down the flight of stairs. Finally, I reach the ground, and raising my head, the archway entrance faced me in all of its old, cracking glory.
