I jumped down from the roof onto the balcony. He hugged me and I could tell that he hadn't been eating, his eyes hungry and cold. "Happy Birthday bro." I nodded and led him inside. "How ? Why? When did you get back?" I asked. He has left to serve in the military over seas. "About an hour ago, I took a cab here and you know how that is." He kept on talking most of it I didn't understand because he was chewing on pork belly. "So uh how was it? America I mean?" For a while he didn't answer, his eyes looked up at me as he was still munching on pork belly. "It was okay, I only experienced life on the base you know. The guys there were a lot older than me, and were really nice. We went to the beach once or twice in the summer.." he said loosing his enthusiasm as he finished his last sentence. "Are you..?" "I don't know yet Kris." His answer shot into the now silenced room. His tone full of annoyance as if he knew what I was going to ask. "I met a women there.." My eyebrows raised up in confusion. "I'm sorry you what now?" A smirk now painted upon his face. "It's not what you think, I might have a way to get you and mom outta this place." Silence was casted out of the room as I asked "what do you mean?" His eyes once again lingered from his bowl of meat to my eyes. "I mean that we might be able to have a better life. It what dad would've wanted Kris.." my heart began to drop at the word 'dad'. "And from the looks of it you've been acting out haven't you?" I made eye contact, raised my cigarette and inhaled once more. I blew the smoke up in the air and twirled around, "I have straight A's brother. More smoke exited my mouth as I laughed. He began to walk over to me, "give me that!" He said in a cold tone. He managed to snatch the cigarette out of my mouth and crush it on the floor. "Look Kris I'm serious, there's a lady in the states that I met that is willing to help us out." "What do you mean by help?" He smacked me on the back of my head, "Having a better life you idiot. Until mom and I are able to get a stable job we would be staying with her and her daughter." I once again raised my eyebrow in confusion, "I don't know about this, it sounds too easy." I said in a worrisome tone. "Kris, it really isn't; mom would need to pay her of course to bring us over." I tried not to question him but it all seemed to fast, dad had died a year ago. My mind began to wander off as I heard him say 'marriage'. The word managed to shake me back into reality, "wait what?! What did you just say ?" "Kris pay attention, in order for me to enter the states without going into the military again, someone from the states has to ask for me. The two ways of doing that is 1. A boss of a company asks for me to work there. Or 2. A women asks for me as a fiancé." My face stone still, couldn't process anything. I looked at him with confusion yet with a sense of "what in the actual fuck?" "Hold up let me get this straight.. in order for us to legally enter the United States you have to get married to some girl that we don't even know ?" With the straightest face I've ever seen painted upon my brother he replied with a solid "yes." He then continued to eat his pork belly, "uhm okay.. so like who's the girl.?" I asked as I sipped my juice. Mom is paying the women's daughter if he asks for me as her fiancé." *spits out juice* I widened my eyes and couldn't believe what I was hearing. "Jackson how old is this girl?" "Uhm I believe she's 16 turning 17 next month." He answered so nonchalantly, "17!? Bro what the fuck she's a child." "So are you and here you are smoking cigarettes on a roof top, who do you think you are?!" I rolled my eyes at him and went upstairs to my room.

I woke up in a pool of sweat, the sound of a wooden door slamming drew my attention to the window. I felt this anger and sadness build up inside of me, the snow outside fell without a bother. Inside my head I began to hear voices, I felt like I was going mad. I looked around the room trying to find the source of the voices, outside the snow fell and the wind blew. Finally I was able to fall asleep. I saw myself in a car driving down the highway, when suddenly it all goes blue and black, I felt this immense pressure.
