A New Beginning

I've never liked when people know what I'm feeling. Unfortunately, my quirk forced me to wear my heart on my sleeve. So I stopped letting my emotions show, blocked behind a barrier of ice. Thinly disguised by my friendly attitude. Very few have ever broken through this barricade and revealed my true emotions.

"Hurry up! We're going to be late!" I shouted. Cara is never ready in time,  even though she gets up earlier than me.
"We're not gonna be late. You're just paranoid, as always."
"I'd rather be early than late, better safe than sorry."
"Fine, calm down. I'm, just putting on my shoes."

As soon as she's ready we rush out the door.
"If we're late you're getting the blame." I said in an agitated voice.
"Alright, but we're not gonna be late."
"We have to go to the principal's office first, remember?"
"Oh yeah we better hurry then."

We arrived at the school half an hour before the bell is supposed to ring.
"See, I told you we wouldn't be late." Stated Cara in an I told you so tone of voice.
"Yeah, I know. But we still have to find the principals office."
"We could ask a student. There's one over there."
I looked in the direction she was facing and saw boy around our age, most likely heading to class. He had unkempt green hair and a freckled face.
"Go on, go ask him where the office is." Said Cara as she nudged me in his direction.
"Why do I have to ask him?"
"Because I said so. Now go!"
"Fine, I'll go. Coward." I said as I walked in the direction of the boy, muttering the last part.

"Sorry, excuse me, I'm new here. Could you tell me where the principal's office is?"
"Y-yeah, I c-could show you if you want, it's not to f-far from my classroom." Stuttered the boy.
"Really? If it's not too much trouble, that'd be great."
"O-of course. It's j-just this way."
I gestured for Cara to come over here.
"I'm (Y/N) (L/N), it's a pleasure to meet you." I say sticking my hand out for a handshake.
"And I'm Cara Kelly, nice to meet you."
"M-my name is I-Izuku Midoriya." Said Midoriya as he nervously shook my hand.
"Midoriya is going to show us to the principal's office."
"That's very kind of you, thanks for helping us out."

We started following the shy boy to the principal's office in silence.
"S-so (Y/N) (L/N) and Cara Kelly, those n-names don't sound Japanese." Remarked Midoriya.
"Yeah, we're actually from Ireland." I explained.
"R-really? You d-don't have much of an accent."
"Do we not? I suppose it's hard for us to tell."

We walked in silence for another little bit.
"So, Midoriya, what course are you studying here?" I questioned.
"I-I'm in the hero course."
Before I could reply we reached the principal's office.
"H-here we are."
"Thanks a mil, we really appreciate you helping us."
"N-no p-problem. I h-have to head to class now. G-goodbye."

Midoriya left and we knocked on the door.
"Come in." Said a voice from inside.
We entered the room and saw a tall man with long black hair and a scarf around his neck. His eyes looked tired.
"Are you Principal Nezu?" I asked
"No, I'm Shota Aizawa, the homeroom teacher of Class 1-A."
"I'm Principal Nezu." Said a disembodied voice. Cara and I looked around quizically, searching for the origin of the voice. A white, rat-like creature emerged from Shota Aizawa's scarf.
"Mr. Aizawa is going to be your homeroom teacher during your three years in UA." Said Principal Nezu.
"My quirk can erase a person's quirk temporarily. I'll be keeping an eye on you in case you loose control."
"Surely it doesn't work on heteromorphic types like me?"
Mr. Aizawa's hair began to float and his eyes glowed red.
"Woah (Y/n), the streak in your hair is gone." Stated Cara.
I tried creating a little bit of ice to no avail. Mr. Aizawa's hair fell back down and his eyes returned to normal. He tilted his head up and used eyedrops.
"It partially disables your quirk, due to yours being a mix of different types. You retain your wings and tail but you cannot control or create any ice."

"We'd better head to class." Commented Mr. Aizawa.
I responded obediently "Yes sir."

Mr. Aizawa, Cara and I left the office and headed to where I assumed was our classroom.
"You will have to take quirk aptitude tests since you weren't here when the rest of the class took them."
"Will it be during class or after school?" Asked Cara.
"You will be taking the tests when the others in class 1-A will have English. Since you should already be proficient in it."
"Understood."

We reached the room and entered exactly when the bell rang.
"Everybody to your seats."
Our new classmates scrambled to get to their seats.
"We have two new students from Ireland joining us today. Their names are (Y/n) (L/n) and Cara Kelly. I'm sure you're all excited to have people from another country joining you but you can flood them with questions later."

A/n: I decided to restart this story because last time I got distracted by schoolwork and never got back to it. And I kinda forgot the idea I had for the story. Anyway, if you spot any mistakes, sentences that don't make sense or anything that you think I could improve, please point it out, I'm always looking to improve my work.
