Hayden’s POV
As my blonde hair blew in the wind, I couldn’t help, but to think about how we got here. Running from my abusive father; heading to Beacon Hills in this rusty old piece of crap with no air conditioner. Sure I am glad we got away, but the only thing I can think about is what we are going to do now. I looked over at my mom and she seemed so much happier now that we finally left, I look in the back at my baby brother and see how peaceful he looks as he is sleeping. As I turn back and look at the road, I fall asleep.
Five hours later we have arrived in Beacon Hills and are looking for the Stilinski house. As we find it my mom parks the car and lets out a deep breath. She then looks at me and says,
“We are going to be okay now.” I wish I believed her, but I didn’t
“What if we’re not, what if dad finds us and drags us back home?”
My mom looked over at me and touched my cheek, “He won’t and if he does we are leaving with law enforcement.” As she finished her sentence I laughed.
“Yeah, you’re right!”
My mom went around to get some of the bags out the car, I reached into the back and picked my still sleeping brother up. As we slowly made our way to the door I held on tighter to my brother and took a deep breath as my mom knocked on the door. When the door opened we saw a man in his early 40’s maybe and a boy about my age with a buzz cut.
“Leann?” the older man asked
“Yeah, it’s me Stilinski.”
He smiled and hugged my mom, “Nice to see you again and have you back. This is my son Stiles,” he said pointing to the younger boy.
My mom smiled, pulled him into a hug, pulled back, and said, “Nice to meet you Stiles. This is my baby girl, Hayden, and my baby boy, Travis.”
Sheriff Stilinski smiled at us and pulled as into a hug, “Nice to meet you both. We are so happy you are here.”
“Thank you!” I realized soon that he was nothing like my father and that we would be safe staying here.
Hours later we had finally gotten everything inside and unpacked. We had eaten dinner and me and Travis where heading to bed. I was holding Travis, when I poked my head into my mom’s room and saw she was laying down, crying. I walked up to her and sat down on the bed. As I put Travis down, I pulled my mom into a hug.
“We’ll be okay mom.”
“I know, it’s just hard.”
“I know, but we will get through it. We Williams’s girls always do.”
My mother looked at me and smiled, “You’re right we do.”
“I love you mom. We’re going to bed, good night.”
“Get some rest we’ve had a long day and you start school in two days. I love you guys too.”
As I got up and walked out of the room and couldn’t help, but think that we are finally getting the new start we deserve. Even with this new start though, I knew that some ghost were still going to haunt me. And I saw just how right I was that night, when I woke up four hours later from a nightmare.
I dreamed we were back at our old house. Travis, mom, and I were sitting at the dining room table Travis in mom’s lap and mom and I playing cards. We were laughing and then all of a sudden we were screaming. My dad was standing there beating my mother and telling her she was worthless. And after she passed out he did the same thing to me, then he went after Travis. That is when I woke up shaking and sweating, not knowing what to do.
