There was a time when I was alone, nowhere to go and no place to call home.
As I sit at my usual table at lunch alone, I look around me like I do every day. Everyone's laughs, smiles, even some arguments erupt as people sit down at their usual tables. Everyone seems to be going great. Of course, like in every school, there is always certain tables that you sit at. For example, the so-called "popular kids" sit at the table in the back. The nerds have their table in the middle. Once the school bell rings, you have to find a place to sit in the lunchroom. If you don't, however, you won't be able to sit anywhere.
I snap out of my usual thoughts and look around me. My bookbag is on the chair next to me. I look on the other side. I was met with no one there, as usual. I'm immune to this now, having to sit alone during the lunch period. I have the occasional person saying hi or bumping into me, but besides that, I have no interaction with anyone.
I take out my water and phone, opening youtube and watching some videos.
The school bell rings. Chaos ensued as everyone parted ways to go to their next class. I hate this school. I groan and put my phone up, as well as my water bottle. I stand up and head to my next class. As I reach the classroom, I get pushed against the wall. The person snarls and walks into the classroom.
"Cool people first, losers last," the bully says. I inwardly groan and sit in my assigned desk next to this girl. She glares at me and scoots as far over as she could.
It's the last class of the day, Red. You can make it through this last class.
My only friend was the man in the moon and even sometimes he would go away, too.
The school day is over. I grab my belongings and head straight home.
If I don't get there in time...
I shiver and start to walk. As I reach the door, my only friend, Ashton, pulls me aside.
"Hey man, can I copy your homework from Math?" He pleads. I contemplate.
"Yeah, I'll give it to you before math tomorrow," I say. He nods and gives me a quick smile before running off to his other group of friends. I overhear their conversation.
"Dude, why do you hang out with him? He is so weird," one boy says. Several nodded, including Ashton.
"I'm just using him to get my grades up," Ashton laughs. They all chuckle.
I suck in some breath, holding back my tears. I start to run to my other horrendous place, home.
I get home, just in time before my dad gets home. I run to my room and lock the door. I pant and lay down on my bed, tears rolling down my face.
I hear the door open and my room suddenly got ten times colder. I shiver and silence myself. I can't let him know that I'm crying.
I hear his heavy footsteps up the stairs, getting louder with every step he takes. I hear his hand hitting the wall.
I cross my fingers, hoping that he would leave me alone.
But hope is for losers.
~Timeskip to nighttime~
As I wash my bloodied arm, I wince. This time, he got me good. Not letting go of me, he drugged me and threw me on the bed.
I sob. I just want this to stop.
Good thing he is asleep, now. I look out the window of my room. I would have to be silent or else he would get me again. I open the sill as silent as I can. I look down. I'm only two stories up. I jump down, booking it to town.
