With a loud clatter, the lamp skidded away from my fingertips. He bent down to pick it up and I could no longer hold in my anger.

"Klay." I gritted out. "If you're here to ruin my mission again I am kindly asking you to leave."

"Then how would you get out and give him the lamp? Hm? If anything I'm helping." He plucked the heavy rock off of my legs and tossed it with ease.

"How did you even know I was here?" I got up to his height with his help, grabbed the lamp and tried to find a way out.

"The sultan hired me too." He grinned. "Looks like we're partners again, baby."

Stalker..

"Ugh, get over yourself. That was one time." I grunted, grabbing a ledge and hoisting myself up.

"We were married." Klay pointed out and helped me up then climbed up himself.

"It was a fake marriage for a mission, Klay. How many times do I have to tell you?" I sighed and turned to face him.

"The sex wasn't fake, I mean I wasn't faking..." He held my waist and brought me closer, a teasing pout on his face. "You still love me, don't you, baby?"

"You wish." I scoffed and pushed him off me.

"Them over there!" The guards yelled and pointed at us. We needed to get out of here and fast.

"Follow me." Klay ordered and started running.

"Fuck no!" I yelled. The guards were catching up fast and I couldn't stay here forever. I ran out through the cave's entrance and saw Klay running towards a helicopter.

Honestly, what choice did I have?

I ran toward the chopper and hopped in just before he lifted off, careful to cover my eyes from the sand that had been stirred up.

Klay had been flying for a while and I'd just now gotten a good look at him... and after that I took several long hard looks at him.

Klay was beautiful, to put it simply. A total Adonis... and I hated him for it. The last night we spent together left me confused. Very confused.

Yeah, we had pretended to be a married couple for the sake of the mission but if I'm being honest with myself, we didn't have to pretend. We were in love. At least I thought we were. After the mission, one thing led to another and I wound up naked in his bed the next morning.

I could've sworn we were bound to each other after that night. He had been so loving and gentle, like he actually cared about my needs long before his. But when we woke up, he was a different person... It's been a year and a half since we last spoke. For good reason too.

He'd ruined everything for me. He stabbed me in the back and accused me of compromising our position. Because of him... because of what he did, I hadn't had a real mission until now. And here he was ruining it for me again.

I was so wrapped up in staring at him that I didn't notice he was staring back.

"Stop looking at me like that." He grumbled and focused his attention back on the window.

I turned away from him and that's when I noticed we were not going to the sultan's palace but to our agency's hideout instead. I asked no questions until he landed the helicopter right on the roof.

"Why are we here, Klay?" He said nothing but instead helped me out of my seat and onto the roof.

"So are you back to ignoring me again? Nice." I snapped at him and just walked behind him.
