Claire just could not sit still waiting for Mathew to join her for coffee this morning. She kept herself busy by making muffins and scones. It kept her from staring at the clock every three minutes. It was the least she could offer after such a delicious casserole he made for her last night. It's been a long time since a man cooked her a decent meal. Her thoughts were interrupted by the knock on the door.

Claire had to stop herself from running to answer it and slowed down to a casual stroll. She opened the door and there stood Mathew looking as handsome as ever in his tight blue jeans and a white tee shirt. His wavy dark hair was wet from a shower and he wore his five O'clock shadow well. Claire did not want to see him shave that off. It gave him a sexy rough look that's been missing from her life for twenty years of marriage.

"I hope I'm not late Claire?" Mathew asked grinning.
"Nope, just on time. Come on in and make yourself comfortable Mathew" she replied politely while thoughts of throwing him on to the couch for a kiss swam through her mind.

Mathew sat on a bar stool in her kitchen placed in front of her island she had designed before moving in. Claire always wanted an island in her kitchen with more than one way to use it. She prepared her food on it and could sit and eat dinner there too. Now she has this handsome and courteous man sitting down in front of it and eating breakfast!

She began making them two cappuccino's from the machine on the kitchen counter while Mathew dove into the scones.

"Mmm these are great Claire, I haven't had scones like these in years" he said between bites.

"You can never go wrong with a recipe passed down from generation to generation" she replied grinning while handing him his mug.

"It's more than a recipe Claire", he said while blushing and staring directly into her eyes.

Mathew reached his hand across the island and put it over hers.

"I like you Claire and want to take this further but at your pace. Can we just sit and talk in the living room and get to know one another" he said and guided her to the couch.

Claire and Mathew sat there all day drinking warm drinks and eating snacks while sharing their stories. She told Mathew about Rebecca and the affair and her divorce. Claire expressed her grief on the treatment she endured throughout her marriage. The control Mark had on all her decisions.

Mathew listened patiently and compassionately to Claire while she spilled her heart to him.

"I want to be there for you Claire. You can trust me", he leaned over and took her face in his hands and kissed her.

Claire felt safe in his arms as he caressed her back while kissing her like a lover. She wanted to be lovers. She didn't want to take her time thinking about it. She wanted to live life taking risks with her happiness. Claire wanted Mathew to be a part of her life. What did she need to think about?

Claire took his hand and lead him up the stairs.

" The right time is now Mathew I don't need time to think it over or take it slowly, " she said while removing her blouse and bra and dropping them at his feet.

Mathew pushed her into her bedroom and closed her bedroom door.
