A man with slick dirty blonde hair stood in front of a fire place. His brow was furrowed in deep thought as he watched the flames dance against the blackend stone. His eyes were troubled as he fiddled with a golden pocket watch, looking down at it with a low sigh. "Darius" an older, gruff voice of a man sounded behind him as the door creaked open. Darius clutched the watch tightly in his hand, swiftly sliding it into his pocket as he turned around to see an elderly man with a thin graying beard. Darius relaxed slightly,  "Rodman, good to see you friend. Will Reginald be joining us soon?" Romans eyes flashed in the light of the fire, shuffling his shoes on the red carpet as his head bowed slightly. "They got him" he stated lowly, as if he almost, wasn't surprised. Darius froze, his heart jumping with fear. A feeling he hadn't felt in a long time. He collapsed into a red, velvet chair, resting his head on his hand. How could this happen? Well, it was expected to happen eventually, but it happened so quickly...

"How..." Darius whispered, his voice quivering only slightly. Rodman sauntered over to the other red velvet chair, sitting opposite of him. Resting his arms on his knees, he leaned over and rubbed his brow in a stressed way. "They burnt down his house, chased him out and gunned him down like a fox." Rodman sat in silence for a moment,  then let out a quiet chuckle "But the sly basterd was able to make it to that gorge near his home, jumped into the river. They never found his body." He sighed bowing his head. Darius raised his head, only the sound of the crackling from the fire broke the silence between the two men. "So, then is it safe?" Darius finally said,  looking at Rodman with a flicker of hope in his eyes. But Rodman remained silent for a moment, then gave a small shrug. "I don't know...all I know is that they don't have it either. Reginald must have hidden it before they came, hopefully it will just remain lost to everyone. " he sighed, "But Darius, you know they'll be coming for us soon." Darius huffed as he stood up from his chair, his pale green eyes flashing with colors of yellow and orange as the fire danced in front of his eyes. "Yes I know" he murmured softly, closing his eyes with a grimace on his face, thinking of his family. Of course, he couldn't tell them what was going on, hell, his wife didn't even know who he truly was. Know one he loved could, it was for their own safety. "Well, what do you propose?" He finally said, turning to Rodman, who was still sitting in the red chair.

"Well, I am an old man Darius. I can get away with poisoning myself, everyone will think that I died in my sleep. It's you that needs to worry, you have a family. They'd be suspicious if you died suddenly in your sleep" Rodman leaned back in his chair, seemingly numb to the subject. Darius rolled his eyes in annoyance, "Thanks for reminding me." He muttered, but Rodman only shrugged. "I'm sorry Darius, but death is at our doors. There's nothing we can do about it now. No way for us to be safe." Darius only gave him a small nod "I'm know..." Rodman stood up, brushing off his slick black suit. His bald head glowed orange from the fire, his gray eyes pale and worn with age, and with a solom face he turned to Darius and gave him a nod of respect. "Whatever you decide, I know it will be the right decision. But, make sure it is never found, make sure it is safe. Farewell my friend, I'll see you in the afterlife." And with that, he turned around and sauntered out of the room, the door creaking behind him as he left. Darius turned back to the dancing flames, standing frozen for what seemed like an eternity. Finally, with a swift wave of his hand, he pulled a rope hanging above the mantle, putting out the fire. And with a last look around the room, he walked out, locking the door behind him one last time.
