Two hundred and sixty-seven times.

Swing after swing.

Sans was growing bored, seeing Chara constantly trying to hit him. And even if she tried.

She would die.

The silver haired male only shoved his hands into the pockets of his favorite blue hoodie. As the child before him continuously tried to hit him with the tip of her blade, he lets out a soft, bored sigh. What were they fighting over again?

Oh right; his brother.

Papyrus was fine, believe it or not. If Sans hadn't gotten to him in time, taking him to a hospital quickly, then Pap would have bled out entirely. But seeing his brother in a state of pain such as that - several stab wounds, five cuts - of course Sans was pissed. Not to the point of completely ending them so they wouldn't return.

Her determination was too powerful.

Chara wasn't breaking a sweat. She continued to swing. Right, left, left, right - her pattern was becoming easy for Sans to memorize. Her final strike, Sans knocked the knife out of her hand. The weapon slid across the ground and into the snow. She looked to it in shock, then up to Sans.

He wasn't much for words at this point.

He found it funny. Frisk, the young girl Sans came across when she was late for school, the kind, gentle soul. She gave half of her soul to bring this brat back up from the dead, living a peaceful two years with Toriel, showing absolutely no signs of harming anyone - here she is now.

And to think Sans had fallen for her.

Chara looked back to her beloved weapon. She attempted to grab it from the cold snow, but before she could, Sans grabbed her wrist. She looks to him again, seeing the pain and hurt in his eyes. All she did was scowl. "Kid." Sans manages to say. "Is it really worth it?" Chara stops, her eyes looking to the snow.

After given a second chance at life, Chara wanted to at least make things right. She wanted to be friends with everyone who were nice to her from the beginning. And she did. But.. Something inside of her.. something caused her to snap. She couldn't even remember what made her snap. She's hurt people. She's hurt Toriel, Papyrus- and since Sans confronted her, she almost hurt him.

Sans' grip on Chara's wrist loosens, and she began to shake. He lets go, and the first thing she does is hug herself. She grips tightly upon her arms, her shaking never seeming to come to an end. Sans frowns, his arms falling to his side. He just watches as she's having a breakdown. No. Chara's not having a breakdown. Sans knows this.

"She's fighting herself.."

He saw two water droplets fall onto the ground. Three more followed after. Sans looked from the droplets to Chara again, her shaking growing far worse. He soon heard sobs coming from the poor girl. Sans let out a sigh, opening his arms a little and engulfing Chara in a hug. She was taken aback by this, yes, but she slowly and hesitantly hugged him back. Her sobs only grew louder. "I-I'm sorry.." She cries out, tightening the hug a little more. Sans only pats and rubs her back, shushing her every now and again. She repeated her apologies again and again, her voice becoming more and more shaky.

Sans, just a little, was growing annoyed with her constant apologies and crying, so he parted from the hug just a bit, staring down into Chara's eyes. Oh how he knew what he was going to do would earn him either a slap, punch, or a stab to the face. But it would be worth it. One, to make her shut up, and two,

His feelings for her hadn't faltered.

Sans took his right hand and lifted it up to her face, caressing Chara's cheek. She looked up at him, tears still falling from her eyes. Sans sighed once more, raising his other hand up and using both of his thumbs to wipe away her tears. Chara sniffles some, and Sans just gives a gentle smile. The girl smiles in return, but only a little. "Forgive me," Sans says in a small whisper, his smile disappearing. Chara looked at him in complete confusion, soon becoming fear. She thought he was going to kill her for good this time, by her soul being weak as it is now. Chara shuts her eyes tightly, shaking her head repeatedly. She started apologizing again.

It's now or never, Sans thinks to himself.

He leans down, inches away from her lips. Chara continued to apologize, unaware of what was happening at this very moment. Sans grew hesitant. Should he do it and risk dying in the process? Or should he leave her alone?

He'd rather do it and risk dying.

Sans leaned further down, pressing his lips to Chara's. Chara opened her eyes, looking to Sans in pure shock. He didn't kill her, no. But he instead kissed her? Before she had a chance to react, Sans parted. He looked to Chara, locking eyes with her. He could see the shock in her eyes. Sans lets go of her face, stuffing his hands into his pockets. He took a step back from Chara. He didn't grin or anything after it was all done. His face was.. expressionless. Sans shuts his eyes, turning his head to his left a little. He was prepared for what was coming.

A couple of seconds, he felt a pair of soft hands touch his face. Whatever these hands were doing, they hadn't had a clue. He felt them squeeze his cheeks a bit. Sans opens his eyes to see Chara, right when she rubs her thumbs on his cheeks. Chara bit her bottom lip, looking to her left, then back up to Sans. She leaned in, inches away from his lips. His eyes widened a bit, surprised Chara, out of all people, doing something such as this. He knew her. She wasn't capable. And seeing her hesitate now, he knew. Sans was growing rather impatient, so he decided to help her a little. He closed the gap between the two, connecting their lips together.

Chara's hands slid from Sans' face to behind his head and neck. Sans removed his hands from his jacket pockets and placed them upon Chara's waist. They both pulled each other closer deepening the kiss some.

Sans jolted awake from his bed, a dark blush tinting his face. He looked around his dark, messy room before letting out a sigh. The male climbed out of his bed, walking towards and opening his bedroom door, exiting. He walked towards Papyrus' room, opening his door a bit and having a peek into his younger brother's room.

Papyrus laid upside down on his bed, snoring soundly. Sans let out a soft laugh, walking in quietly. Once he entered, he awoken Papyrus to have him lie in his bed correctly. The boy whined, being awaken so late in the night, but complied with his older brother's orders, lying down in his racecar bed the correct way. Once he hit his pillow, it was a done deal. Papyrus was asleep. Sans pulled the covers over his little bro's form, tucking him in.

He exited, shutting the door behind him quietly and tightly. Sans walked back to his room, shutting his door, and climbed into his bed, covering himself up. A yawn escapes past his lips, and he runs a hand through his hair. Sans turns onto his left, another yawn escaping. He shuts his eyes, sighing.

It was just a dream..
