Junhong sits on the balcony of a hotel room with his knees against his chest and the breeze flowing through his hair. He closes his eyes as he soaks in the sun's rays and he can smell the fresh scent of the ocean. The light shining on his lids suddenly grows dark and he opens them, confused.

"You've been sitting out here for almost half an hour, you'll burn at this rate," Yongguk smiles down at him whilst fiddling with the large umbrella perched beside the twin chairs, Junhong sits still as it shades them both and his husband sits down beside him.

Junhong wants to reply but he hadn't brought a notebook with him, as though reading his mind Yongguk hands him his usual padded paper and pen with a smile. He accepts it and writes down a quick thank you before he begins to explain that he was enjoying the sunlight.

They'd been engaged to each other for some time now, due to gay marriage not being legal in their home country of South Korea just yet they decided to be joined in another place. To be specific California. And so here they were, days after a very small wedding which only consisted of them two and a Korean Chaplain they'd met.

They still had a week or so before they were to return to their home country and they wanted to enjoy their time as much as possible. Of course for them that meant simply spending time with one another, words rarely shared between them.

"Want to go down to the beach?" Yongguk asks after a moment and Junhong pouts. Now this wasn't the first time the elder had asked this specific question. No, this was the third time today and Junhong could tell he was determined to tease him till evening.

There were a number of reasons why Junhong did not like the beach. First of all, he hated sand. With an absolute passion. It got every where and it was virtually useless for anything other than a photo. Second, it was loud. Or at least that's what he's read about online.

From Junhong's general knowledge, teens played volleyball on beaches, what if someone shouted for him to duck and he didn't hear? That was a hospital visit that he was not willing to experience. Yongguk had laughed at him when he voiced these concerns, reassuring him that he'd be okay through gummy smiles.

Junhong wasn't going to risk it though. He was a man of comfort and he would not go out of his zone if he was allowed to avoid it. Yongguk knew this obviously and he only teased lightly, not in an insensitive way that would possibly hurt his husband's feelings.

Shall we go down at night?

Yongguk reads the neat handwriting with a curious expression, well that would definitely mean there'd be less rowdy people and more couples strolling around. If Junhong wanted to then he wasn't going to refuse so he nods.

After sharing a dinner in the safe confines of the restaurant in their hotel Junhong and Yongguk walk out onto the beach hand in hand. Yongguk couldn't help but swell with glee when Junhong's hand tightened around his own, clearly insecure about the uneven surface of the sand.

Junhong's flip flops kick back sand into the night Spring air and they edge their way closer and closer to the water. Yongguk revels in the calming sound of ocean waves while Junhong watches the way it moves in utter awe.

In the night the water is barely visible, except for the white hues when it crashes into itself. Junhong can't see how far the water goes but he knows it stretches on and on into the night sky. He'd never had the chance to see it before, not even in South Korea.

And although he'd gotten glimpses from their hotel room, it was a different feeling to be in it's presence. Yongguk squeezes his hand to get his attention and when Junhong turns to him he's surprised with a sudden kiss. With a smile on his lips he pushes into the gentle touch and Yongguk wraps his arms around his waist, pulling him in closer.
