Well, what a nice start to my weekend. My Dad comes home after eight years thinking he's welcome inour home. Eight, long years its been without him and he thinks he can come back and live here? What kind of mind does he have?!
As soon as I ran upstairs and slammed the door behind me, I immediately snatched my cell phone from my dresser and dialed Mairilyn's number. As the phone started ringing, I desperately prayed that she would pick up. When I heard the thankful "hello?" I told her what happened.
"Oh my gosh! He can't just show up and unpack his bags and continue from where he left off!" said Mairilyn. She totally gets what I'm talking about because I've told her this many times/
"I know, but the thing is, when he showed up at my door he didn't even have any bags." There was a short silence between the two of us. Mairilyn finally broke the awkward silence.
"Well, that explains how "well" he's been doing without you." I totally agreed. "Anyways, I thought him and your mom filed a divorce?" Mairilyn wondered. I was thinking the same thing.
"They did, but my dad couldn't be contacted after he left since he didn't have a cell phone or anything. I guess it was never legal since my mom still gets letters from he friends addressing to Mr. and Mrs. Perry. I guess just to him out families are divorced. But my mom has been trying to email him, but he never replies. She tries to contact his old boss, his family, his friends, but he was just uncontactable. She keeps sending him divorce papers and child support forms to his email address, but he never fills them out. It's like he doesn't want to give up on my mom and their relationship. I mean, he came back, he never filled out the forms, and refuses to discuss it with my mom. It's like he still cares about us, which I find hard to believe considering that he left. Now he owes us who knows how much money and God knows what he's been doing. I don't even understand how he's able to take care of himself!! He has no job, no money, no car, no house. I mean, where has he been?"
Me and Mairilyn both wondered the same thing ever since he left. I mean, where could he have lived.
" I wonder if he just dug through the trash and crashed on a park bench or in a dumpster. I really don't know. I guess you will just have to ask him." Mairilyn suggested.
"Mairilyn, I don't want to ask him. I don't even want to look at him. He doesn't even care to realize how we feel and why. He's clueless! Who knows if he's just drunk and its making him all woozy. We really just don't know! I just hope he doesn't spend the night."
"I don't think your mom would let him." Mairilyn pointed out.
"Your right," I said. "But just in case he does, can i sleepover at your house tonight?" I asked.
"Yeah, sure. I'm totally fine with it. My parents are, too. I'm here for you." Mairilyn said reassuringly. I was relieved.
"Thanks Mairilyn. It's nice to know that someone is always there to lean on."
After our phone call, I started on my homework. I needed something to get my mind off of him.

As I was at Mairilyn's house, we kept thinking about why my dad came back. We didn't know if he missed us, was drunk and came back, or he just needed a place to stay before he left again.
"Do you really think he would miss us?" I asked Mairilyn.
"I really don't know, no one does. I guess we'll just have to wait." Mairilyn replied. She always gives good advice.
"Let's just drop the subject and talk about something else" she suggested. I agreed.
The rest of the night we just talked about dance, school, Dameon and Luke, and other stuff. By 1:00 a.m., it was lights out, since we were worn out from a long, eventful week.
I couldn't sleep at all. I kept tossing and turning and thinking about what my dad was currently doing. What had he done while he was gone? Who had he stayed with and who did he become? My one question really is: Who is my dad?
