"Come on, Raphael, or we're going to be late!" I grabbed my keys out of the bowl where the front door is and waited for Raphael.

"I'm coming, mommy!" He ran all the way to the front door. "I just wanted to get my Swiderman toy." He couldn't say his p's right so it sounded like that. I smiled, "Okay, buddy. Time to go. Give me your hand." He puts his hand in mine and we walked out the front door. I locked it. Hi, my name is Ameria Sanchez and this is Raphael, my son. We've been living in Boston for three years and I'd say I'm living a good life. I might work hard but I still have little bundle of joy right next to me. He's all I need.

We walked all the way to his school.

"Here we are, buddy. This is your new school. Let's go inside."

He smiled, "Yay! wrettyschool!"

I laughed, "Yeah prettyschool!" We walked inside and I signed him in, "Alright, mommy has to leave. Could you give mommy a big happy Scooby Doo hug?"

He nods and wraps his small arms around me-or tried to, he wasn't big enough yet. I wrap my arms around him, tears coming to my eyes, "Mommy will see you later. I love you." I let him go and stood up.

"I love you too, Mommy." He smiled then ran off to his class. I almost cried then and there.

I walked out of there before I could cry and wiped my eyes. You have to be strong, Ameria. I looked at my watch and my eyes bulged out. I was going to be late to work. I started running but knowing Ashley was going to cover for me. I just had to get there before I'm late. I kept on running until I saw my job up ahead. I started to speed-walk. I walked in out of breath and said, "I'm here, I'm here." I fixed myself up and walked behind the counter. Ashley was already there.

"Girl you were cutting it close this time."

I smiled tiredly, "I know but I had to get Raphael to school or he was going to be late." Thinking about that made me want to cry all over again.

I went into the back and clocked in right on time. 8 o' clock. I put on an apron, got the notepad to write down the orders and also I grabbed a pen. I went back to the front just as someone walks inside. He sat down in my section and picked up a menu. "I'll be right with you sir." He nods and smiles, "Yes ma'am."

I smiled then sighed as I saw all the other people walk in. This is going to be one hell of a day.

~~~~>>>>>>LATER THE SAME DAY
I looked at the clock and saw that I had 30 minutes until my shift ended. I smiled, in about 45 minutes I can see my baby, and in about an hour and a half, we'll be home, safe and sound. I started wiping down the tables as another bunch of people come in. The group consisted of two girls and four boys. They looked like they were up to no good but, hey, it ain't my child. I finished wiping down the table and walked over to Ashley.
"I don't think I like the likes of them so could you handle them this time. I promise I will pay you back," I smiled and gave her the puppy eyes.
She sighed then rolled her eyes, "Fine but just this once, you're so lucky I love you or this wouldn't be happening." Truth is they frightened her too with all the piercings and tattoos. All the dark clothing they wear and how they looked at the both of us like a piece of meat.
She sighed, "Okay here I go. Pray for me." I watched as she walks up to them. She kept looking back, hoping I was still watching her which I was because I didn't want anything to happen to my best friend. In fact, I was always thinking of my friends. I never wanted to hurt any one of them. I walked over to the people at a different table and started to serve them the food they had ordered just a while ago.
I looked back at Ashley to see her walking behind the counter, looking pale because of how scared she was. I frowned; I should have just taken the table since it was in my section. I sighed and walked after her, about ready to apologize. I walked up to her as she walked into the backroom and hugged her, trying to comfort her, "I'm sorry. I should have just taken the table myself."
She just shook her head, "No, it's okay. I've seen a lot more creepier things before."
I smiled, "Good, I'll get the next creepy group."
We both smiled and hugged one more time before walking out and going back to our jobs. The bell rings which means someone new was here. They walked up to the counter and sat down. I wasn't paying attention to who they were because I was watching Ashley to make sure she was okay. She was smiling which was good. I walked blindly over to the person who just sat down.
"Ameria?"
There he was in all his glory.
