(Connor's POV)
We were surrounded by monsters. Flesh-eating, psychotic monsters. I watched them roam by as we sat in the car.
"Shit." I said under my breath. I slowly and quietly get out of the car. Watching over the horde, a runner ran up to me and try to tackle me. Runners are fast, but their really weak. Hunter threw the creature down and stabbed it in the head, instantaneously killing it.
"What do we do?" he asks. I stood there for a minute, trying to process everything. I stand motionless. I then get an idea. Zombies can only smell pure human flesh, not rotten flesh.
"Give me your knife." I say.
"Why?" Hunter asks.
"Just do it." he hands me the knife. I jab the dead zombie and cut a hole in it's stomach, revealing its guts.
"Eww" Devon said, trying to block the sent. I grab some of the guts, and rub it all over me.
"What are you doing?" Hunter asks.
"We can use this as camouflage. I've done it before." I was careful not to put any on my leg wound. Hunter quickly followed, then Devon.
"This is gross." Hunter says. We slowly walk through the zombie crowd, not being noticed. I was limping because of my wound, so I blend in more. After what felt like an hour, I felt a raindrop fall on my face. A small sprinkle started and slowly washed the guts off us. Time stood still for a minute, as a zombie looks right at Devon. A look of fear appeared on her face, like she knew she was going to die. I grab Hunter's knife, and threw it at the zombie.
"Run!" I yell. We start running like children into a candy store, only worse. I was slower than Hunter and Devon, so they ran ahead of me. A runner tackles me and tries to bite my face. I guard my face, but the zombie got shot with an arrow. I pushed over and got up. Where did that arrow come from? We ran to an abandoned church. Hunter slammed the doors open and me and Devon ran in. Hunter closed the doors and I moved a desk to barricade it. I fell to the floor and held my arm up. It was hurting like hell.
"You okay?" Hunter asks.
"Yeah. No bites. Just burns." I say, sarcastically. out of the corner of my eye, I saw something that still surprised me today, another survivor.
