Everyone was quietly munching on the fish. Sometimes someone looked her way and smiled in thanks. Ari nodded every time.Sitting around the campfire, Ari all of a sudden got goosebumps. Something was not feeling right and she wasn't sure what it was. It seemed like the shadows were moving, but she thought that that was just her being tired.
Shiro leaned closer to her. "I don't know what it is, but I have a bad feeling. I think we should lay low for a couple of days." He whispered in her ear. Slowly Ari nodded, looking around the circle.
"I know what you mean. I am having the same feeling, but can't seem to put my finger on the exact cause for it."
"Maybe Saito should give his foresight in the water well another go? I know last time it only showed a hooded figure, but maybe this time it will be clearer?"
"Last time was yesterday Shiro, what could have possibly changed?" Ari pointed out.
Frustrated, Shiro put his hands in his hair. "I just can't shake the feeling something bad is coming. And with my magic going haywire thanks to poison, I will not be able to help anyone!"
"Hey, calm down, it needs just one more day to flush out of your system and you will be good to go." Ari patted him on the shoulder.
Ari stood up and walked around the campfire. "Listen up, we are going to lay low for a day until Shiro has his magic back and then we will move on again. Please make the proper preparations and can someone check the traps? Don't go out there alone. Always take someone with you."
Everyone nodded and proceeded to make preparations for another night in the open. Two girls decided to go check the traps.
Saito walked towards Ari, "whats up? I thought we were going to move tomorrow morning?"
Ari grabbed his arm and pulled out of everyone's earshot.
"I am having a bad feeling about the trip and so is Shiro. It will be better if we stay here with the cover of the mountain at our back. We will have to make a plan for tomorrow night."
"I could try reading the water again? Or Kani could try reading her runes?" He suggested.
"You know the runes are sketchy with their prophecy as it is and Kani is 7. She cannot make out the possible danger we are in. Plus I would rather not have another panic wave like the last time. We almost lost him you know. Shiro was this close to dying!" Ari put her thumb and forefinger right next to each other. Saito bowed his head and went towards the water anyway.
"Take someone with you, Saito! Saito, please take Mario with you or something." Looking over his shoulder angrily at Ari he hesitated. Then he sighed and inclined his head towards Mario who got up to follow Saito to the water.
