It was an hour before I had to leave for Ground for Thought. I had been dreading it all day, but I have to say I’m a little excited. But strangely I want to get to know him. I walked over to my closet and ruffled through my clothes trying to find something to wear. I grabbed my pink and blue flowered dress that has threaded little balls on the end. I think it makes me look like a doll. I reached down and grabbed my white converse high tops and laid them down on my bed. I walked back over to my desk and started to fix my makeup. Adding a little bit more powder to cover up my blemishes, and putting on a few more layers of mascara. When I looked at my phone it was 3:30. He never told me what time to be at the coffee shop, so I took a shot in the dark and figured maybe I should be there the same time that him and I met yesterday. I changed my clothes and put on my shoes, grabbed my keys and left.
When I pulled up I looked outside of the store, and he wasn’t there. I opened my car door and climbed out and walked in. The bell jingled again and I searched the room over to see if I could find him, but the only familiar face I could see was Jessica. Not going to lie I was a little disappointed that I didn’t see him there. I walked over to the half of the store that was the café and sat down at the bar. Jessica leaned over the table, “Where’s your new boyfriend?” she said with a smirk. I grabbed a menu and glanced over it. “You know he isn’t my boyfriend and I…. I don’t know where he is…” I went back to reading the menu. “Can I have this?” I pointed to a French coffee drink and hopped off the chair and walked over, scanning the books. Someone’s hands came from behind me and covered my eyes.
“I thought I was supposed to buy that for you” a deep voice says. Christian was my first thought but when the hands were taken away, I looked over my shoulder and it was Miles. I’ve grown up with him living next door to me. Him and I have been close but up until we started high school, he got his braces off, took acne medicine to clear up his face, and got his black hair cut out of his eyes so he could see and spiked it in the front, and all of the sudden he was popular. “Hey Evie, what are you doing here?” he looked at me and smirked. “She’s here waiting for her date!” Jessica practically screamed to him. “Oh really?” he looked me in the eyes, “Do I know the guy? Hmmmmmm” he nudged me and smiled. “No” was all I could say. “No you don’t know him, he new”. Miles looked at me intently and didn’t say anything. “Okay…..” he looked me in the eyes. Miles has always had the coolest eyes in my opinion. They are a dark blue, almost black looking. He took my hand and pulled me out of ear shot from Jessica. “I want to ask you something” he paused and furrowed his eyebrows with out breaking eye contact with me. “I know you only see me as a friend, but I’d like to take you dinner this weekend. Mabye catch up on what’s been going on in your life, please!!!” he gave me the puppy dog face, knowing that every time he did that when were kids, it made me giggle. “Sure” I said and smiled at him. “Saturday night, sound good?” I looked at him. “Ill pick you up at 8 o’clock!” he replied and before I could say anything else he ran towards the door. Before he opened it he looked over his shoulder at me and winked then opened the door. Hearing it jingle again, I watched him walk out onto the side walk away from the store until I couldn’t see him anymore.
