I woke up, bright lights flooding the room. I had woken up to the most familiar blank room over looking the city. "Drank a little too much I guess." Ashton said and pulled out his phone.
"Yeah," I said and cleared my throat. "What time is it?" I asked him and closed my eyes. "3:07, in the afternoon." I nodded and closed my eyes tightly while swallowing. My throat was killing me. "Can you call the doctor or someone in here please?" I asked Ashton my voice still very groggily. "Yeah." He said and walked out the door as I sat there in silence for what seemed like days. I had fell asleep again and I woke up with my head killing me again. "Ah, I see you're awake Miss Testa. Drank a little too much, again." I laughed wanting to shy away from the hurtful topic that I was an alcoholic. "I want to keep you in here for another couple hours to see how you do awake. We will run through some quick therapy steps in about an hour. Call me in if you need me." My doctor said and walked out and I turned my head away in shame. "Sorry you had to see me like this. I guess I'm not particularly good at first impressions." I said to Ashton. He laughed, "I'm not either, don't worry." I smiled at him and closed my eyes ready to go home and start my normal routine.
"So, tell me about yourself.. If you'd like to." Ashton snapped his head towards me. "Uh, well, my name is Morgan Testa. I'm 18, I'm into sports and music you know..? The normal thing. I drink... a lot. And I went to the university to study as a lawyer for coorperate," I said. "You?" I looked at him and smiled, ears open waiting to hear from him. "Well, I'm Ashton Irwin. I'm 18 years old and I'm into football and music. I'm a drummer in a band 5 Seconds Of Summer and I will begin to tour the world with my three best friends and One Direction this February. And well, I worked at KFC." He said and smiled at me. I laughed. "Oh, oh! You're the, uh, uhh..." I trailed off trying to think of one of their songs I've heard on the radio. "Heartbreak Girl guys... Right?!" I asked having a sudden burst of assurance. "That'd be us." Ashton smiled and looked down at his fidgeting hands.
I smiled and looked to my right as Calum came in. "Hi babe!" He said and gave me a kiss on the cheek. "Hey Cal," I said and smiled back at him before continuing.
"This is a silly question for me to ask you guys but do any of you have an elastic I could use for my hair?" I looked at them both and Calum searched through his pockets. "Uh, here!" Calum said pulling out an elastic. "Can I braid your hair?" Calum said a smirk covering his face. "Uh, yeah?" I said a little bit confused but I laughed any ways. I sat up and pushed myself forward giving Calum room to sit behind me. "I'm gonna go." Ashton said and walked out of the room obviously a but ticked off. "Damn," I turned to Calum whose mouth was slightly ajar. "It's a hard world out there." I said. Calum laughed and started braiding my hair and hummed a song I had never heard before. "What song is that?" I asked hi obviously intrigued by the song. "It's one of our new originals, Voodoo Doll." He said and I complimented him on it, like I said i was obviously intrigued. "You need to sing to me sometime and play the bass for me. You've told me all about it, I'd like to hear it." I smiled at him. "Ok, all done!" Calum said and stood up. I felt the braid and smiled, mostly in shock. "I can't even french braid!" I said and laughed at how the eighteen year old boy managed to do a girl thing better than I could.
"Well, Morgan," Dr. Volpi started and she smiled at me. "It looks like we won't have to put you in therapy thanks to this nice young man right here." She said and pointed at Calum and he bowed. "All I need is for someone over 18 years of age to sign this release form and we will take everything off you and you're good to go!" She said and I sighed, nobody here was over eighteen. "I can sign for her." Calum jumped up and said. He winked at me, god what would I do if he wasn't here. I mouthed him a thank you and he just smiled at me. After he signed his signature he has perfected over the years, Dr. Volpi got everything off of me. Once both Dr. Volpi and Calum left the room I changed into normal close. I was happy to finally get the itchy hospital gown. "Ready?" I popped up behind Calum. "Yeah, let's go." He said and put his hand on the middle of my back and pushed me along. Once I sat down on the leather seat I asked him, "So what... exactly happened?" I was obviously referring to my whole incident.
"Well, uh, we were all sitting in your apartment. Then you went up to go get the door and you met Ashton. After that you looked to your right, seemed like you were looking at the clock, and you just collapsed. So I ran to you and picked you up on the floor and we drove you to the hospital." He said keeping his eyes glued to the road. "Oh," I said. "Thanks, but I'm really sorry you had to see that." I finished and looked away, ashamed. "No, it's fine, I don't mind. You actually looked kind of adorable asleep." He said. I blushed and looked out the window.
"So, are you staying in tonight?" He asked me still not daring to take his eyes off the road. "Um, I suppose it doesn't matter if I go out. Why, if I may ask?" I said and gave him a smile as he took his eyes off the road for a quick second.
"Well," he started and looked down on his lap. "An old friend is in town and he wanted to go out tonight. Him and I, he called last minute saying he was bringing his friend, a girl. And I was wondering if you'd maybe go with me so I wouldn't be so, third wheel-ish?" He smiled. "So.. like a date?" I said and smirked at him. "No, not a date." "Well, then I guess I can't go...!" I said and smiled at him trying not to laugh. "You'll only go if it's a date?" He said laughing at me. "Yes." I said sternly.
"Ok then, it's a date."
