I Will Dream.

Dear World,

People say you think the best thinker when you wake up- when you're refreshed and as bright as a new penny. I disagree. I think you're the best thinker at night. When the sun goes down and the darkness shows, when you're tired and exhausted and nothing else seems to matter between you and your pillow. That's when you're the best thinker.

So it's late, world. It's late, and you may be asleep, but I am awake. I am awake and I'm alive and I'm thinking and I'm thinking clear.

I'm thinking clear and I'm thinking that I can't stand this place.

I'm thinking, how can we live in a place where children die victims of their peers?

I'm thinking, how can we praise creativity when we send our children to institutions to become listless memorizers?

I'm thinking how can we say we want equality, when men are praised for wanting it and women are scorned?

I'm thinking how can this be right?

Dear World, this was to be my confession, to be a moment of self discovery and acceptation of who I've become. Who I am, what I am.

(And dear World, if this were a pen on paper, I would not cross these words out, I would not find another paper, for these are my thoughts. Unfiltered, unblemished. Real.)

So dear World, I am many things. Things I am proud of, things I am not. Dear World, right now I am angry. I am not proud of my anger, nor am I ashamed. I am angry. I am passionate. I am seeking change. I am, I am, I am.

Dear World,

When I sleep, I will dream.

I will dream of a world where no children are expelled for pop tart bites, I will dream that the rich aren't quite as rich and the poor aren't quite so poor. I will dream of fresh water for those in need and flowers for forgotten fighters.

I will dream a world better than this.

And if I once again wake to see flashing red lights and blood stained headlines?

Dear World,
