I Like To Think

A.N: Here is a short little one-shot I quickly wrote down when it came to me. You when inspiration strikes, you've just got to roll with it.
Disclaimer: just playing in the amazing sandbox of J.K Rowlings.

I like to think they found each other that they went to each other to finally be in the arms of the other and hold each other close again, for the first time in months.

I know, I know, that's not what happened, but I like to imagine that that's what happened. I like my version better than the reality of it anyway. The truth was too depressing, such a waste.

He had left with his parents straight away, he had glanced quickly in her direction and then he had left and she watched him leave, her heart broken, but she understood.

He cared about his family and he needed to know they were safe. She cared about her friends there, she cared about the chosen boy who was about to face his final battle. No one knew yet though they all thought he was dead.

He wasn't and she breathed a sigh of relief and you could see it in her eyes if you looked very closely that her thoughts were now only on him.

How could I have possibly known that you ask? I see things. I usually notice what most people don't.

Yes, yes, I am a romantic I know, but I swear it's true, she was definitely thinking about him in that moment.

Why was I even interested in them? Well, my job is depressing, especially in the middle of a war and they were a good distraction. Something beautiful in the middle of all the chaos and devestation.

The battle is soon finally over and this is the moment I like to think they found each other, at their spot, after the dust had settled and it all was over.

There was a moment, I think, that they were very close to doing it, to going there, but I think they were too scared. Too worn out from the war and too scared it had been too long and that the other didn't feel the same way anymore.

It's a shame; really, I don't see why they couldn't have just talked to each other. They obviously both still cared. Yes, perhaps it is just me and my silly imagination.

It's a too bad though that their story would be one of those lingering 'what ifs' that they would always wonder about at the back of their minds don't you think?

Of course, but now is not the time for these kinds of musings. I have things to do. I have to lead her through the light. Her soul will become restless if I don't do it soon.

Don't worry though; I happen to know a secret. He went about an hour ago and he's waiting for her on the other side.
