Frost laid in his bed trying to fall asleep, but just like every other night, he was not able to. He had constant thoughts that would not leave him alone, no matter what he did.
He turned over to see Check In fast asleep next to him. He smiled.
Frost had no reason for feeling the way he did. He had a wonderful life as it was.
He had been continuously happy for years. He actually had someone who genuinely loved him and wanted to be with him. He had a job he enjoyed. He hadn’t been this happy since he was a kid.
Check In yawned and opened his eyes slightly to see Frost in front of him. He smiled. “Hi Frosty.”
Jack sighed and kissed Check In. He then rolled over and sat up. “I'm off then.” He jumped up and put his jeans on.
“Where are headed this morning.” Check In stretched and rose from his bed.
“Dalilah wanted to meet for breakfast so, I'm going out with her for the day.” Frost slipped a shirt on.
“You sure this has nothing to do with our anniversary coming up.” Check In smiles deviously.
“Not at Check In.” Frost shook his head and walked to the bedroom door. He looked back to Check In. “Hey…”
Check In stood up and looked at Frost. “Yeah?” Check In smiled.
“I love you Check In.”
“I loved you too.”
“What?”
Then Frost woke up.
I subway train flew past him.
He looked around and sniffed. “Must of fell asleep waiting for my train… I bet I missed it.” He checked his watch. “Yup…” He checked his surroundings and then sniffed. “Sorry Dalilah, I'm going to be late. Dang it…” he sighed and stood up. He picked up a brown breifcase sitting next to him.
Frost walked out of the subway into the open. Around him stood hundreds of living people going about their regular lives.
Frost looked down at his black leather jacket and blue jeans. “I miss being dead.” He shook his head and walked down the sidewalk.
New York was beautiful this time of year. With all the smog and loud cars.
Frost accidentally stepped In front of taxi. He stepped back on the walkway and waved the driver on.
The driver flipped him off and kept driving.
Frost ignored this and continued on his walk. He looked up to see the Zackery Corp. Building rising high above everything else. It was about twenty minutes away, but Frost had to make the walk.
Every step Jack took made him more depressed, but he pushed forward to try to ignore it.
Eventually he did make it to his destination. He looked up the entire front of the building that seemed to overshadow everything in the city around him.
He took in a deep breath and walked in.
He passed by the receptionist with a quick flash of his H card. She opened the door to the elevator.
Frost walked into the elevator and looked at the one button on it’s panel.
Hell.
He clicked the button and it shot downward.
The elevator went down so fast the Frost started to lift off of the floor. He seemed to be used to this by now.
They elevatore started to slow down and eventually came to a stop.
