(^is that even how you spell it ok)
eddie kaspbrak was a cross country skier. one of the best, actually. his first olympic games was coming up, and at age 23 and a half, he was ecstatic.
but his lanky hockey player boyfriend was even more ecstatic. richie tozier, a 6'4" big footed trashmouth hockey player who's on the USA Olympic team was so pumped that they reached peak couple goals and made it to the olympics, together.
they were both going to the olympics together, and they were both so happy.
eddie loves going to richie's games too. he's always in the front, by the goal cage, ready to see his mans shoot a goal. his best friend was their goalie, ben hanscom, and richie always races towards him to bump chests and to blow kisses at his small boy.
richie also loved watching eddie ski. he was so good at it, and richie was always right there, on the sidelines, cheering him on. cross country skiing is a tough sport, and richie definitely knows this, since he goes on ski trips constantly with eddie and he tried to do a course with him but richie couldn't keep up.
"i'll just leave this to you, honey," he told eddie after his attempted go at it.
they were widely known too; a fan favorite. interviews upon interviews, especially after they both won gold medals.
speaking of their gold medals, as eddie was coming in and going to the finish line, richie handed him the flag from the side lines and he waved it as he crossed, and when he crossed the finish line for his event and got gold, richie came running from the sidelines and attacked him in a barreling hug and the crowd was cheering and went wild, since he made history; eddie kaspbrak, first american to win a gold in the men's cross country skiing event.
eddie was so happy, tears streaming down his face and he kissed his boyfriend and waved to the crowd, which was as excited as he was.
the silver medalist, a man from norway, came over and hugged him too.
"du var fantastisk! bra spill!" eddie said to the man, since eddie was a badass bitch and knew how to say many things in different languages.
"takk!" the man said back, and walked away. meanwhile, richie tried to hype up the crowd, but it didn't really work, so he held eddie's hand and watched the exchange happen and beamed with joy.
richie's gold medal win was also a riot. his team was up against canada, their biggest rivals. richie and ben were the youngest on the team, both 24, but were treated with nothing but respect and kindness throughout the years of practicing for this very moment.
richie was ready to win gold, but wouldn't mind coming home with a silver. he was already super proud of his boyfriend for winning gold and making history.
he saw eddie by ben's cage, waving at him when he glanced up from his phone. richie skated over and eddie stood up, smiling wide and blowing him a kiss. richie beamed and gave eddie a big toothy grin. eddie's smile dropped and tilted his head.
"where the fuck is your mouth guard idiot?!"
"it's over there, babe. i didn't feel like putting it on."
"wha-what? no rich, go over and put it on and then come see me."
"but it's only-"
"honey, i don't care if it's only warmups. get the mouth guard, and then see me. i've got a surprise for ya." eddie winked, and richie raced to his bag on the bench in the box. he pulled out his bright pink mouth guard, picked out by beverly and eddie for his birthday, and then raced back over to see eddie smirking.
