At the end of the day, you have to learn how to let go;

Let go of the memories and the love and the laughter,

Let go of the night he held you so tight, the way his eyes traced your face, when he had his hands on your waist and his lips on yours;

When he promised come what may, he'd refuse to leave your side;

Let go of the way he pulled you close in the dark, the feeling as your breath caught in your chest when he looked at you, the way his hair felt between your fingers and his thumbs stoked your hands;

Even as the broken promise of love echoes in your reminiscent mind, let go of what could have been,

After all, he let it all go so easily...
