"How do you feel?" asked the note which James had just passed to Liv.
Liv shot him a look; he was smirking. She cleared her throat, and wrote down: "Ya know, just like how you'd feel when you've been through one year at Hogwarts and everything's just gold, and then one of your best friends, and that's James Potter, forces you to try out for Chaser because they claim that 'you're good, brilliant, but it will take you decades to reach my level.' And tomorrow is your first ever Quidditch match against effing Slytherin and they're the best: shit, mate :)"
He read it and broke out in silent laughter after Liv gave him a nod with a desperate smile.
"An Animagus, Miss Lupin," said Professor Gibstone, their Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Liv immediately turned her attention to him, "is a witch or wizard who can morph her or himself into an animal at will; their spirit animal," he was still looking at Liv, unhappy, "Miss Lupin would you like to add a fun fact to this?"
"Er - their Animagus form is usually same as -" she broke off. It hit her, hard as a bullet, "- their Patronus, the form of an animal produced by the Patronus Charm, a very advanced kind of magic. That is their spirit animal of course,"
"Excellent, ten points to Gryffindor,"
Liv gave the professor a goofy grateful smile, and she was sure she saw his lips twitch into a small one in return. She went back to the thought that had just occurred to her. It was as strong as a life's slap on her face because of how dumb she'd been. An Animagus, a freaking Animagus. An animal. Remus.
"Nice ten points, Olivia Jacqueline," Sirius congratulated her as they climbed the stairs to Professor McGonagall's class."Thanks, Sirius Orion," she responded, still thinking about the Animagus thing.
"Why hello, Remus John, James Cicero." Sirius put each arm around his two friends' shoulders, "Remus, you're growing taller. Have you noticed?"
"Yes, I quite have," Remus answered, "Peter Prius, over hear!" He called for Peter, who was now back from the bathroom."We are so unfunny,"
"Hey Liv," James addressed, leaving Sirius's embrace.
"Excuse you?" Sirius glared at James.
"Don't mind him," James continued, "so, Lily Evans, d'you think she hates me?"
Liv tried to focus on James's question. She absorbed it and raised her eyebrows at him. She couldn't find a better response, "Who? The Lily Evans you always pick on her best friend and call him Snivellus? Nah, she doesn't,"
"I hate you,"
"Okay, I'm sorry. Look." She linked her arm with his, gesturing Sirius to leave them, "She does not technically hate you, you know? She just gets angry with you for doing what you do with Snape,"
