Those Three Simple Words

♡Chapter 3: Dragon Season♡

(Natsu POV)

I slammed my head against the guild bar, feeling my face heat up because of thinking of a certain celestial mage. I felt my heart beating start to quicken, remembering the night she slept in my arms. My head was killing me. "What would you like, Natsu?" The white haired bar maid asked. "Lucy..." I groaned. Mira grew a wide smile as I realised what I said.

"I-I m-mean!" I yelled, hiding my face in my hands in embarrassment. I sighed, my head still killing me, "I'll have as much as you can give me." I gave my wallet to her, trying to ignore the last statement.

She gave me a large pile of chicken legs that were soaked with hot sauce. My mouthed watered as I smelled the chicken. I picked one up and took a big bite out of it. "So Natsu... why do you want Lucy?" I started to blush again. "Well I don't know, I-I just can't stop thinking about her." Mira giggled. "You're in lovvvee!" Mira said impersonating Happy.

I blushed even darker. "Okay... I have a crush." I herd Mira squealed, making my head hurt even more. "Ahh, even after I ate my food, my head still hurts." I whined to Mira. "Maybe you should ask Wendy to check on you." Mira stated. "Check on who?" Wendy asked sweetly joining the conversation. Mira looked down at the petite bluenette.

"Natsu isn't feeling well, mind if you check on him?" Mira asked with a smile. "Not at all!" Wendy cheerfully said. She placed her glowing hand on my forehead and closed her eyes. A few seconds passed by until her eyes shot open and she started blushing a dark red. "What's wrong Wendy?" I asked her.

"Well you see... your going through dragon season." I was confused. "What's that?" I asked her. "Igneel didn't explain to you?" I shook my head no.

Wendy sighed and started to explain. "Dragon season is when a dragon finds their mate and needs to claim them, but it effects Natsu because he's a dragon slayer. It's like puberty for dragon slayers, each of us have it in the middle of the age of 18. We get over protective and want to be with our mate 24\7 and if we aren't with our mate it starts to hurt our mate and us. That's why your head hurts."

I nodded, blushing a red that can rival Erza's hair. "I was the mate of Laxus." Mira said, showing off a little lightning bolt on her neck. "That's the mark he gave me." Mira stated before realizing something. "Oh my Mavis!!" She shouted. "Lucy's your mate!!" My face grew even redder, if that was even possible. "Keep it down Mira!" I said looking around if it drew any attention to us.

I felt my head ache slowly going away as I herd the guild doors open. I met eyes with her, my mate, Lucy. She came over to the bar and sat next to me as I felt my head ache disappear completely. "Hey guys! Whatcha talking about?" She asked us. "Nothing!" We all said in unison. She raised an eyebrow but didn't question anything. "Mira, can I have my usual?"Lucy asked. Mira hummed in a sweet tone and disappeared into the kitchen.

"So.. how's your side?" I asked wanting to fill the silence. Lucy laughed and rolled her eyes," Relax Natsu, it's been three weeks already." I grinned at her and was about to open my mouth but Mira beat me to it. "Here you go!" She chirped. "Thanks, Mira." Lucy grabbed the drink.

Her plump, pink lips curved around the stripped straw as she sipped a little of her drink. "What?" She said cocking one of her eyebrows. She caught me staring at her. "It's just... you're so beautiful." I told her, thinking out loud. Her face turned beet red. When I realised what I said my face turned the same color as my hair. "I mean!! Your not... well, you are but... um..." I kept blushing in embarrassment. A giggle came out of her. Her face still red, she said,"Thanks, Natsu..." . Mira smiled at us, "You guys are just the cutest!!"

"Hey, Lucy." Gray, said putting an arm around her. I felt something in my chest start to build up. "How's the side?" He said, tickling her not injured side. My chest felt like it was about to explode. But her giggles were the only thing that filled my ears and the feeling slowly started to go away. Then I heard her cry in pain.
I looked at her to see her holding her side. I looked toward Gray to see him with a worried look.

Something in me snapped. "I'm so sorry, Lucy! I didn't mean to touch that side!" She smiled at him and said,"It's oka-" before she finished I cut in. "You bastard! You hurt her!!" I punched Gray in the jaw and kicked his side. "I'll make your side hurt!!" I yelled at him. I was about to kick him again but I felt Lucy grab my hand. "It really is okay, Natsu." My eyes softened and I smiled at her. "Okay, Luce."

After Lucy payed Mira I walked Lucy home. "So.." Was all I was able to utter out. Lucy met my eyes "Yeah?" She questionably said. I couldn't look straight at her without blushing. "Um... can I ask you a question?" Lucy giggled like an angel."You just did but okay?" "Do you wanna maybe um... just, you know... hangout s-somtime?" I put my head down and closed my eyes shut, waiting to be rejected. "Sure, Natsu." I opened my eyes to see her walking ahead of me with her hands behind her back.

"Umm... okay then!!! Pick you up at umm... six!!!" I pinched myself. Nice, Natsu. Lucy turned around and looked at me straight in the eye,"Can't wait!" My face started to heat up. "Me to-o." I said memorized by her smile. With that, she disappeared into her apartment building.

"Yes!" I yelled into the night sky.
