My first lesson at my new college in the USA is History. My favourite!

I wave goodbye to Theo my new roommate. She's dark skinned, long black hair, tall, skinny basically the opposite of me.

Though I've known her for about 3 hours we've become fast friends. She's great. Clever, funny, welcoming, everything good.

I sit in the empty class room because my anxiety gets really bad if I'm late to anything. I sit in the middle closer to the back than to the front.

While I get my books out people come in noisily yelling and chatting. A guy sits down next to me in silence. I hold my breath.

"Hi I'm Aaron Burr." He says holding out a hand.

He doesn't seem like a social butterfly. He's wearing a blue school hoody and some black jeans.

"Um... Y/N... Y/N L/N." We shake hands.

"You're (Nationality)! Cool." He seems nice, quiet, and polite.

We talked for a while as the class room filled up and I learn that he got a scholarship like me (which was his parents dying wish before they passed). He got a bit emotional when he told me that but he said he's glad he fulfilled their wishes.

I can't help but think that he and Theo would make a good pair.

"Anyway nice to meet you Y/N."

"Right back at you Aaron." I say smiling.

"AARON!" Someone yells from the stairs at the side of the seats making Aaron jump.

He turn to see a Curly haired dude waving frantically at him. Aaron grimaces and waves back.

"John I didn't realize we had any lessons together." He says when the guy sits down next to me.

He's wearing a t-shirt that has a cute cartoon turtle on it and a pair of jogging bottoms.

"Yeah." John turns to me. "And who might you be?"

I tense up, Aaron notices and rubs my back softly.

"Y/N L/N, John Laurens." We shake hands.

"Thanks." I whisper to Aaron.

He waves it off as the Teacher come to the front of the class.

"Hello class. I'm Prof. Washington, welcome to your first History class of the year. So we'll start with the (Favourite time in the past)."

(Time skip to the end of class)

"Nice to meet you two." I say walking into the cafeteria.

"You too Y/N." Aaron says.

John ruffles my hair and they wave as I walk over to where Theo sits with 3 other girls I recognise as our neighbours.

I walk over and sit down next to Theo.

"How was class?" Theo asks me.

"Good. I met a guy who is the perfect match for you." She scoffs at my comment.

"Any way this is Angelica, Eliza and Peggy Schuyler. Our neighbours." Theo gestures to the girls.

They all smile at me.

We all talk about hobbies and family until it's about 2:30.

"I've got volunteering in about 30 minutes. So do you guys want a lift before I go?" I ask standing up.

They leap up and follow me.

"You do volunteering?" Angie asks.

"Yeah at the local animal centre it's fun. Feel free to pop in so I can introduce you to some of the animals!" I say back.

"I WANT ME A CAT!" Peggy screams from the back.

"YOU CAN GET YOU A CAT!"I yell back.

"YESSSSSSSS!" She hisses making you laugh.
