Hello my lovelies, I just want to say thank you for reading The Beast's Ward and for being so patient while I was working on other projects. I had put a few chapters up here on Wattpad ages ago and left the site for a while. I forgot about it. When I eventually returned, I couldn't believe how many reads it had gotten and how many people wanted more. I never expected it and I am immensely grateful for every single one of you that read, commented and voted for this little drabble of mine. I'd also like to thank everyone that poked and prodded me to finish it. I probably never would have if it weren't for your encouragement. Anyway, I wanted to address the open-endedness of The Beast's Ward's conclusion.
When I began The Beast's Ward it was with the intention of it being one of a series of fairytale retellings, each independent of each other but connected in some way through The Smoke and Mirror's Club. A few of you have already figured this out, but Ashton is indeed my version of Blue Beard and he is my recurring villain. Isabel's mother was actually Sleeping Beauty. I hinted at a few other possible retellings during the masquerade. The Big Bad Wolf and Red Riding Hood showed up as well as the witch from Hasel and Gretel. Another one I wanted to try my hand at was a lesser known fairytale called Bearskin.
I would love to revisit the idea of the series later on, but right now my focus has been stolen away by goblins so for the time being it will be shelved. I contemplated giving The Beast's Ward a more final conclusion, but it just didn't feel right to deviate from my original vision of it. Maybe in the future...
