Christmas Special: Adrinette one shot

Adrien stared at the food in front of him with a frown. As hungry as he was he couldn't bring himself to eat. All he could do was poke at his hot cakes with his fork. Finally bringing himself to do it, he looked up at the clock that read 7:30 am. He sighed his frown dropping and turning into a sad expression.

"I guess he's not coming... again."

Adrien hated how his Father's absence affected him. For some reason he'd always have a little hope when waiting for his father, despite the continuous disappointments and unkept promises.
This loneliness always led him to think of one person.

"Mom.. I wish you were here.." he whispered voicing his feelings.

Getting up from the empty dinner table he grabbed his book bag and headed to school.

"Hey Adrien what's up bro?" Nino greeted slinging his arm over his best friend's shoulder and rustling his hair.
Adrien shrugged off his friend  fixing his hair as they walked up the school's front steps.

"My father is a jerk, that's what's up." Adrien said coldly.

Nino looked at his best friend and could tell that his father stood him up again.

"Aw well cheer up bro. Tonight is Marinette's Christmas Party." Nino patted Adrien's shoulder.

Adrien looked at all his classmates hanging out as soon as they walked inside the school spotting Marinette.

Alya must've said something really funny beacause Marinette was laughing with such a bright expression.

He couldn't help but smile a little.

"Yeah.. I guess you're right."

With that they both entered their class room.

After school Adrien walked to Gorilla's car.

"I'll meet you there Adrien!" Nino called.

Adrien gave Nino a sharp look.

Nino!! Those plans are a secret! Hopefully Natalie didn't hear that!

Once I get home I need to change. Then put on the piano recording and sneak out.. Oh and grab Marinette's secret santa gift of course!

Entering the house Adrien rushed into his room. Grabbing a coat he was about to put on a piano recording when his dad appeared in front of his door.

"Son, where do you think you're going?"

Adrien sighed realizing the open window made it clear that he was about to sneak off somewhere.

"Father, my friend is throwing a Christmas party and I was planning to go-"

"And so you were about to just leave and not show up to dinner?"

Adrien couldn't hold in the pent up frustration and finally snapped.

"Isn't that what you've been doing to me for the past year?! I'm going to that party father and maybe then you'll know what it feels like to be stood up for once!"

And with that Adrien ran out of the house into the cold snowy night.

Marinette doesn't live too far from here..
