"God I hate that man" Declan says.
"Same" Ross and Jake say at the same time. I just stand where I am not moving an inch. I learned a long time ago to listen, to always listen.
"Hey, look, we're not here to hurt you, we save girls like you." Jake says. I just continue looking blankly at him.
"Shit" Declan whispers.
"She's farther gone than we thought" Ross says. But like I was taught, I stand and say nothing.
"Are you hungry?" Ross asks gently. Gently, that's a new tone of voice, there's no such thing as gentle in my world. I nod slowly, I am quite hungry, I can't remember the last time I had a full meal, most of my food consisted of scraps and bread. The three men stood up and began making something, I just stood still, still not moving, I was taught to never move until told.
"You're allowed to move you know" says Declan finally noticing that I hadn't moved. I slowly limped over to the counter top where they were cooking. Why were they cooking? Wasn't I supposed to do that? I was so confused. I slowly got up getting ready to start cooking for them. I walked over and took the pan they were holding, and the things they were cooking.
"What are you doing?" Declan asks. I just gesture to the pots and pans indicating that I would cook.
"Ohhh, you don't have to do that." Declan says concerned. "We want you to heal." Heal? Why would they want me to heal of they're only going to hurt me again? This environment confuses me so much. I just continue to make the food like I was taught, never making eye contact.
