For The Love Of Satan's Son

Chapter 2

"So what if I'm a son of Satan? I'm still a human!" Rin shouts at Suguro. They had been arguing since what happened back at the Academy when Koneko tried to leave the room when they were 'cleaning' and I didn't like it. They were just starting to get along but then it was just all ruined. "You could hurt someone, let alone yourself, dumb ass!" Suguro counters. Rin stops completely, only a small grunt coming from his mouth. "Would you guys stop fighting? It's not good for you..or anyone for that matter." I butt in, immediately regretting my decision as they both turn to me. "How about about you stop getting involved?" Rin says and then they begin to walk away. "All I'm trying to do is help and you just turn me down. Even Izumo is nicer than you are." I tell Rin as I push passed the two, walking back to the dorm building that I share with Rin and Mr. Okumura. The only reason Rin has a dorm building all to himself, with the exception of Yukio and I, was because he couldn't really be trusted around others. Mephisto Pheles, the principal of the True Cross Academy, had demanded that I help Yukio keep an eye on Rin if and when Yuki couldn't be there. Our rooms were side by side, making it easier for the both of us if something ever happened.

Furious, I break into a run, leaving the other two in the dust. I have a very high stamina so it usually takes me a few minutes or so to wear down and sit. By the time I was just about to fall on the floor, Rin comes up to me and puts my arm around his shoulder and wraps his arm around my stomach. "Don't make yourself tired. You're gonna need all the strength you can get." He says to me as we continue down the hall. "I can..I can take care of myself, Rin. I don't need..your help." I struggle with my breathing as I try to push him off me. Rin just tightens his grip and keeps walking. "Suguro told me how he saved you in the forest."

"He did? What else..did he say?"

"N-Nothing..That was it." Rin looks down, and bites his lip. "You should lay down. We'll talk about it later, okay?" I nod and step away from him, opening the door to my room. "Hey, I um..I'm sorry for snapping at you."

"It's okay. You were just angry." I reach back and tighten my hair as I slowly inch into the room. Suddenly, Rin grabs my hand and kind of pulls me closer to him. "Rin, what are--what are you doing?"

"I want to apologize the right way, since I just say sorry and leave, you know." He hugs me awkwardly but I have no choice to hug him back so I hesitantly wrap my arms around him. "It really is alright, Rin, I'm used to be yelled at. Just not by friends though."

"I understand." He smiles softly and pulls back. "If you want me to stay in there with--" "I'll be fine."
