I sat on my bed staring up at the ceiling, exhausted from the day of chaos I'd just been through. No drama in particular, just a jam-packed day. No time for relaxation. No time to stop and think. I longed to just fall into a deep sleep, but my mind was restless with responsibilities.
All of a sudden I was snapped back to reality by the ring of my phone. It was Ronnie.
"Hey what's up?" I asked, rubbing my sore eyes.
"I was wandering whether you want to come to Pop's. Me, you and Arch." she sounded as tired as I felt.
"Sure, see you in 10."
I hung up. I was honestly happy that I got to see Archie today, because I missed him. A lot. What with me being a river vixen now and writing for the blue and gold, I was always occupied. "I know how you're feeling. I think I'm going to quit something." I sighed " I think I'll quit the Vixens."
"I'd like to see you try." V sniggered.
"Why can't she quit?" Archie questioned, obviously confused.
"It's almost Homecoming, and the whole formation of our routine will be screwed if we're a vixen down," I pointed out."
Just then a beanie-wearing Serpent entered. He said something to Pop (I assumed he was picking up an order) and then noticed my staring at him. He gave a little wave and I quickly turned away.
"I'm going to go, I need some sleep."
"Ok, bye then," Ronnie said.
As I walked back past the counter, the serpent caught my eye. Again. He smirked a little, and as soon as Pop place that paper bag on the counter, the stranger picked it up and followed me outside. It wasn't until we went by the school that we split paths, though eye contact was kept to a minimum.
As soon as I arrived back home I collapsed in a heap on my bed. So much had gone on that day, yet the only thing on my mind was the serpent...
