"Hehehe, I'm sure Batsy will be here soon, little girl. But let's have some fun while we wait, shall we?" Joker cackled, his smile absolutely horrid. I was currently tied to a chair and gagged. Not that this has never happened before. I was constantly kidnapped and harassed by my dad's vast array of enemies.

Joker left the room for a moment. I didn't even want to think of what he was capable – what he wanted – to do to me. Just to piss off my dad. If he could hurry up just a little, that would be very nice, I thought to myself. But it seemed like he was taking his sweet time. Much to my inconvenience.

Suddenly, a pale face popped in front of my face. The scream I let out was muffled by my gag. "So, I was thinking. While we wait for your poor daddy to come save you, let's use some of my newest toys here." He pulled out what looked like a small car motor which had two wires attached, each with a clamp on the end. He turned it on and I heard a crackling noise. Almost like electricity. Electricity. He was going to shock me.

I started struggling against the ropes. I let out a few muffled screams. Joker took his time, slowly inching the zapping clamps towards me. He seemed to be enjoying my struggle. He knew it was futile, the ropes were too tight. Heck, I knew it was futile, but I had to try.

Just as the clamps were about to come into contact with my abdomen, something fell through the ceiling. No, someone I realized after the dust had cleared away. It was a rather muscular man wearing a blue suit with a red cape. Superman, I knew immediately. I had heard about him from a friend that lived in Metropolis. 'A hero', she said, 'and so handsome!'.

"Let her go. Now." He demanded, looking Joker in the eye. The clown only cackled in response.

"I've never seen you around here. And believe me, I know my fair share of superheroes. Too serious, if you ask me, the whole lotta them." I could not tell if he was talking to himself or Superman. "Now, why don't ya join us, have some fun?"

"I won't ask you again. Let the woman go." He said, walking closer to us.

"Huh, polite. Much better than Batsy at that. Quite a refreshing change, actually. But, oh so boring. And I'm not in the mood for boring, unfortunately." He pulled out his gun and aimed it at Superman. "Bye bye, stranger!" He pulled the trigger, laughing maniacally. I hoped Superman was good at dodging bullets, but my hopes were not high.

When Joker finally stopped to asses the damage, he was met with an angry Superman. Bulletproof, I thought, who would've guessed. Without saying another word, Superman flashed forward, grabbed the Joker by the collar, and disappeared upwards.

I sighed. I would have to get out of these ropes myself. An impossible endeavor, to be sure, but my only option at the moment. Some hero, I thought to myself. After five minutes of pointless struggle, Something burst through the hole in the ceiling again.

Superman walked towards me and removed the gag. "Thank you so much, Superman. I owe you one, that's for sure." He cast me a funny look before moving to untie the ropes around me.

"Most people are usually terrified after encounters like that." He noted.

"Well, when you're Batman's daughter, you kinda have to get used to it. Y'know, people using me to get to him?" I said with a bitter smile. I got up and made my way towards the door.

"If you ever need my help, just yell." Superman said right before I walked out.

"I'll keep that in mind." I said. Not that it would do me much good.

The next unfortunate kidnapping was only four months later. Bane was the guilty party this time. And although he was much less frightening than Joker, he was no less willing to harm me. Luckily, I only had to endure him for about twenty minutes before Superman showed up. In five minutes, he had sent Bane to the nearest police station. Incapacitated enough for them to make an arrest, of course.

"My knight in shining armor." I joked as soon as he freed me.

"My pleasure." He bowed mockingly. "However, I'm starting to think this is becoming a habit of yours. Getting captured by your father's enemies, only to be saved by me."

"Ugh, believe me, If I had any say in the matter I would get off the grid and disappear, just to get some peace."

"Onto more serious matters. Has your father never taught you how to defend yourself?" He asked, his concern genuine.

"Well, he did. But I never had a knack for fighting. I'm more of an artist. Y'know, peace and love and all that shit." I smiled. "Besides, there's not much a person can do when held at gunpoint. Unless they're bulletproof like some people."

He cracked a smile. "Well, it is an honor to save your life time and time again."

"Ah! So he does have a sense of humor!" I joked, earning a laugh from Superman. "I'm kidding. See ya next time, yeah?"

"I'll be there." He said before flying off. I surpassed a laugh. What an unlikely friendship.
