"No!" Nakagising ako sa aming classroom na wala pa halos isang istyudante.
"Oh, anong nangyari sayo? Mabuti na lang walang tao kundi pagkakamalan kang baliw diyan," sabi ni Evy habang inaayos ang kanyang buhok.
"Shut up!" I hissed.
"Umagang-umaga napakasungit muna," Evy said.
"Whatever," I replied.
"Bakit ba kasi ang aga-aga natin? Pwede naman tayong magpalate katulad dati," Evy asked.
Hindi ko sinagot si Evy at tumingin na lang ako sa may bintana, pinagmamasdan ang unti-unting pagdami ng estudyante sa field.
Lumipas ang ilang minuto, dumating na rin ang iba naming mga classmate kaya masyadong maingay na. May iba nakikipagtsimisan, at may iba rin napaka OA na parang ngayon lang nagkita. 'Yong tipong maghuhug pa at beso-beso parang ilang taon hindi nagkita.
Napatingin ako sa may pintuan at pumasok ang isang lalaki. "Damn!"
I bit my lower lip. I want to talk to him, but I can't. Dapat akong makakita ng chance para makausap siya. I should talk to him soon.
Ilang minuto lang ay dumating na rin ang adviser namin. May dala-dala siyang white na supot na may laman.
"Good morning everyone!" Sabay lagay ng supot sa mesa. "Sa araw na ngayon may activity tayo. Ang name ay 'leaf changing'. Ito ay isang activity na kung saan ichachange niyo ang ang kulay ng leaf gamit ang food coloring," sabi ni professor sabay labas ng mga iba't ibang uri ng dahon.
"What the?! What kind of activity is that? Is that what you call a fun and adorable activity?" I complained.
"Ms. Montefolca kindly please shut your mouth. And how dare you to talk to me like that," she shouted.
"Totoo naman ah. At alam ko rin na ganun rin ang iniisip ng mga classmates ko kaya I'm being their representative to tell what they want and they don't want," sabi ko sabay irap.
Biglang may tumayo sa may harapan ko at sinabing, "If you don't want to be suspended kindly please shut your mouth and give respect to our professor?"
"K-Ken Scott," I whispered.
Wala akong nagawa kaya umupo na lang ako at tumingin sa labas ng bintana.
"Thank you Mr. Scott. So, we will do this certain activity by pair. Kindly look at the bulletin board for your pair," sabi ng professor.
Everyone stood up and looked at the bulletin board. After a while, they slowly went to their pair and started to do their task.
Bigla na lang may umupo sa may harapan ng desk ko at diretsong inalapat ang mga materials.
"So, can we start?"
Damn. It was Ken. I did not know that he will be my partner; for all the students in the class why him?
He started to put the food coloring on the water and soak the leaf on it.
"Uhmm... Ken may sasabihin sana ako."
He glanced at me and looked me straightly to my eyes. His eyes was brown and shine when the sun struck on it. His lips was kindly pinkish. His hair was also brown and looks like messy but it suits to him. Ken Scott was my classmate since we were first year highschool. We usually not to talk and pretend that we don't know each other. He was kind and generous person. He usually don't like to talk or start conversation with other, he just always read his book or listen to the music. I like the way he was, but it was change when I saw him on that day.
"Ano kasi... " I said.
"What?" he blunted.
"Nothing. Baka pwede na yang i-unsoak yang leaf." Shit. Why can't I ask him about that? It was just a simple question but why can't I ask? Ah shit.
"Okay." Kinuha niya yung mga dahon. Surprisingly, the color of the leaf changed; from green to golden yellow.
"Some times, we can change the object or person by putting or adding something to make it adorable that lead us to don't appreciate the original or the real one," he said calmly and started cleaning the table and throwing it to the trash.
I looked at Evy and signaled her that it was time to go and she got it. We went out the classroom and started to walk on the aisle.
"So, Zeny did you ask him?" Evy whispered.
"No, I didn't."
"Why?" she said while playing her hair.
Hindi ko siya sinagot at tumingin na lang sa labas. Bakit hindi ko siya matanong tungkol sa nangyari? Siya nga ba talaga yung nakita ko o hindi? Aahhh! I hate myself!
Bigla na lang may humawak sa balikat ko and it was Evy smiling at me. "We are here!" she said cheerfully.
We entered the room and saw a girl at the corner of the classroom. Nakatali siya sa upuan at may masking tape sa bibig niya. Her body was full of bruises and wounds.
"Hey bitch! How are you?" Evy asked.
The girl only looked at her with piercing eyes.
Evy slapped her on the face "How dare you to look at me like that?!" She slapped her again on the other side of the face "And how dare you to start a fight on us?!" she shouted.
I just watch Evy torturing the girl. I took the water bottle and walks toward to the girl "Enough Evy! Your hurting her!" I shouted and wash the face of the girl with water. "Please my darling drink some of it. I know you don't eat and drink for three days." the girl drink the water.
"Thank you Zeny. Aaahh!! Aaahhh my face! What's happening? Blaah... /panting/ What did you do to me?"
Evy glance at me and smiled. "You are so genius Zeny!" she yelled.
The girl started vomiting her blood and her face was totally burn with the acid. She started to crawl toward on us "He-help..... Please help me..."
"The water that I gave to her was an a muriatic acid. Yes, she drink and wash the acid." I explained to Evy.
The girl touch my one foot and gaze at me. And said:
"........Zeny......"
