Chapter 2

"Mommy, is-is-is this our new house?" She asked cocking her head to the side, studying the barely standing house.
" I'm afraid so darling". I replied shaking my head once again.

The old house must have been little more than a glorified shed even in it's hay day. But now it looked like a giant had sat on the roof, for it sagged terribly. The windows were gaping holes for the wind to rush in and out through and the door hung on it's hinges at a jaunty angle, although now it was really just a frame. It was a rotting heap, bowing down, subservient to the elements.
The landscape was all too depressing, The exterior of the house looked like any other run down house with faded, dirty yellow cracking paint and a yard that had grass as tall as an Amazon Forest.
The foundation of the house and the driveway had cracks in them that looked like a spider web, branching off everywhere.  There were also trees all over the yard, but the biggest tree was in the front yard. The tree looked like it had never had its branches trimmed, they were thick and had Spanish moss hanging down and covered almost the entire yard and the top of the house. The trees allowed the minimal amount of light to get through to the yard creating a dark and eerie hue over everything. After looking around the exterior of the house, I decide that it was time to take a look inside.
" Jojo, grab your stuff and let's head inside so we can get comfortable". Jojo obediently clutched her bag and stick her thumb in her mouth.  I took my keys out of my bag and opened the front door.
I took in the decor of the house and immediately started laughing, laugher that turned into sobbing.
How can me and my daughter live in a place like this?
This was high way robbery, I spend $3,587.00 on this house, but I guess that's just the price for the property.
"What's wrong mommy? I-I like it, it's pweedy". Jojo said smiling.
"Don't you like it?". I looked at her and wrappers her in my arms, holding her tight.
"Yes baby, it's abstract art" I muffled as I buried my face in the crook of her neck.  I placed her down and closed the door.
I sometimes wonder what I'd do without my baby, she's always the optimist in situations like these.
I stood up slowly as I took a look around the house. It wasn't as bad as how it looks on the outside but it was still bad.

First thing I've noticed were two or three couches covered in white sheets and those white sheets were covered is thick grey webby dust, the walls were painted a depressing brown burgundy color. I walked over to the kitchen realizing it was enormous, completely taking me off guard. What's even better was that it wasn't too dirty, there were a dish drainer packed with plates, spoons, forks and knives. I opened the cupboards but unfortunately they were empty, only thing that occupied it were cobwebs. I turned the nub for the sink but nothing came out, but then I heard it making funny noises, It almost sounded like when you're stomach is clenching  and growling, it got louder by the second until I saw dirty brown water spitting through the faucet, I kept it running until the water turned clear.

I smiled to myself approvingly.

I walked into one of the two bedrooms in the house. Once inside I immediately thought that Jojo would love this room.
"Jojo, come here darling." I blew out a breath.
I really hate this house.

I heard her little footsteps approaching, she came in with her thumb in her mouth looking sleepy as hell.

"What do you think of this room? I thought you would like it."
She walked in looking around, she stopped in front of the bed, she turned around looking at me and started smiling evilly and jumped in the bed. She started laughing and a moment later she started sneezing.
"Jojo get out there of there, that bed is full of dirt and dust, bring your suitcase so we can change the sheets". I said alarmingly.
She jumped out of the bed and ran out the room retrieving her suitcase.
There were two small nightstands that were situated beside each other with a cute little mirror in the center that was perfect for her. She had a huge closet to herself, not that she needed the space and three bean bag sofa scattered around the room. I was jealous of the gigantic window she had, just right under it sat a window seat, it was a wonderful place to rest when you can't sleep.

Looks like I'll be visiting her room more often.
Jojo came back with her suitcase in both hands, she sat it down with a loud thump and vigorously opening it. She took out her dora sheet set and gave them to me, she went back to her suitcase unpacking her clothes and putting them in her dresser.
I went over to her bed, firstly removing those nasty sheets we met there, I brushed her bed off with a duster I found in the kitchen and made her bed and fluffed her pillows just after putting her pillow covering over them.
After she was done I took her in the bathroom. I switched on the lights and sighed to myself. I am honestly tired and I really don't feel like cleaning right now but I just want to put Jojo to sleep so I can have some alone time to myself.

"I'll be back honey, don't move". I told her, she just shook her head in acknowledgment and sat on the toilet seat.

I went out in the living, I spotted one of my bags and opened it, rummaging through my clothes I finally came upon disinfectant wipes. I left my bag there opened and went back to Jojo.

I wiped down the face bowl, the toilet, tub, doorknob everything.
I stripped Jojo out of her clothes and ran water in the face bowl.

Unfortunately there was no hot water.

This house is a total mess I thought to myself. I must find a job quickly as possible so I can make here feel homey and livable for the both of us but mostly for Jojo.
After bathing her, I put her in bed and she quickly fell asleep.
Sigh..
Finally I can visit my room.
I dragged my suitcases in my room, I turned on the light and I didn't even had the energy to feel disappointed.
I was just so tired.

I changed my sheets and dunked down on my bed.
First day was a mess
I took my phone out of my pocket noticing that I didn't had any text messages from my family. They didn't even called and asked if we reached here safely.
I threw my phone down on the floor and I stripped out of my clothes. I was too tired to get up and I ended up falling sleep right there.

Hopefully tomorrow brings miracles for the state I'm in.
