'COULD ALL PASSANGERS PLEASE MAKE SURE THEIR SEATBELTS ARE FASTENED TIGHTLY AS WE MAKE OUR DESCENT INTO MANCHESTER'

I was awoken from my sleep by the flight attendant over the pa. I rubbed my eyes sleepily and sat up yawning. I couldn't believe I slept for the whole flight, well apart from the 2 hours at the start when the ladies next to me wouldn't shut up and a baby at the front of the plane was screaming. I checked the time on my iPod. 1.30pm. The plane was on time. I looked out my window as the plane made its way towards the ground.

When the plane finally landed and we were able to get off the plane, I quickly threw off my seatbelt, grabbed my bag off the ground and squeezed out to the aisle before the 2 ladies could get up. I joined the slowly moving line of people exiting the plane. I was buzzing with excitement and couldn't wait to get off the plane.

When I finally got to the exit of the plane I stepped out and was welcomed with a chilly autumn UK breeze. I smiled to myself as I pulled my cardigan up over my shoulders and up to my neck. I had been in the UK for less than 5 minutes and I already loved the weather. I continued walking towards the airport to collect my luggage when I could feel my pocket buzzing. I took my phone out and admired it before answering it. My parents had bought me an iPhone for my birthday and I still couldn't believe I had one.

"Hello?" I said into the phone not bothering looking at the caller ID. I was hoping it wasn't anybody I didn't want to talk to.

"Hello sweetie it's Anne. How are you?" Came a reply from the other end of the phone. Hearing that it was Anne I suddenly perked up.

"Hi. I'm really good thanks"

"That's good to hear. I was just letting you know I have already picked up your luggage so you don't have to worry about it."

"Aww thanks. You didn't have to."

"It's fine sweetie," Anne laughed from the other end. "Well I'll let you go now."

"Okay I'll see you in a few. Bye."

"Bye Emily. Oh and I have a surprise for you. Bye sweetie." Anne said before hanging up.

I just stared at the phone before putting it back in my pocket. A surprise? What was Anne talking about? I decided not to worry about what she said and instead walked quicker to get out of the cold air. Even though I loved it I couldn't wait to see Anne and her family.

Anne was a really nice lady. She was like a second mother to me even though we have only met a few times. When I met her I instantly got along with her and understood why mum was such good friends with her. The rest of her family was nice too. Her husband Robin is also extremely nice. He is funny and easy going and I get along with him really well. Anne also has a daughter named Gemma who I am really good friends with. We Skype all the time. She is 20. Robin is her and her brothers' step father so Gemma lives with her real dad. She told me she was staying with Anne for a few days to see me so I was over the moon. Even though Gemma was older than me I was glad she was going to be at Anne's as her brother wasn't. Her brothers' name is Harry and he is 18 (only 2 years older than me). We get along really well and we are best friends now. As soon as we met be just clicked and now me talk all the time.
