stealthy bastard.

the next morning, yoongi noticed how namjoon was far more enthusiasticㅡ the way he moved, talked, lookedㅡ sure, the destructive teen rarely acted anything like him, but seeing him hitting a notch higher towards beaming like the sun was a bit weird than anything. if he could remember, nothing exciting happened last night while they were up on the trail unless namjoon slipping on ice counted.

did that possibly trigger something?

yoongi watched his friend with furrowed brows, weirded out and a hint of concern more than anything. but then when the girls were slowly filing out for the morning stretches, namjoon immediately bounded his way towards jooyoung with his hand lightly tapping her shoulder. the grey haired male raised a brow at this action. since when did he get all chummy with her?

he paid no mind, knowing his friend better but as time passed and his acts continued to pester yoongi further; his nerves were slightly struck. with all the smiles exchanged, shoulders nearly touching and cheeky bantersㅡ he sure felt like it was getting put of hand. he waited until namjoon was alone and when yoongi found him trying to grab more wood from the shed, he didn't hesitate.

"what's up?"

namjoon flinched, dropping pieces of chopped wood before turning to yoongi, eyes wide and filled with surprise. seeing that it was just his friend casually leaning on the wooden beam, relief filled his veins. "dude, you don't scare people like that!"

"what are you doing?" his eyes pierced into namjoon's, filled with emotions that said anything but lightheartedness. the latter raised a brow at his sudden seriousness but the question felt awfully dumb that it slightly cracked the atmosphere.

"what do you think— i'm grabbing firewood," he sighed, shaking his head but yoongi had interjected.

"you know what i'm talking about."

it was pointless to play dumb seeing how the grey haired male wouldn't budge. namjoon was slowly growing worried about his safety when his friend got serious knowing how it would be when he was mad. yoongi was never one who showed his anger but at times like these when he tried acting up with something that involved a certain girl, he knew he was crossing the line.

"i like her," namjoon stated. "jooyoung, i mean." he clarified.

it was more of a dumbfounding moment, hearing his friend confess outright. he expected something but to hear it pour out of his lips was, in fact, a feeling he couldn't describe. betrayal? annoyance? there was an itch in his chest that he wanted to scratch out but all it would ever lead to was pain. and that's what yoongi exactly felt.

his fists trembled but his expression stayed neutral as if he wasn't affected by the words.

"cut the crap, you haven't even talked to her before."

"doesn't mean i can't like her."

THE cabin reeked of awkwardness, so close to being unbearable that there was no sounds emitting from anyone other than the heater's rumble.

shiwoo who was on his phone watching a certain video along with hangyeol suddenly turned it off when no one was making any noise. right about now, yoongi would've complained about them giggling while namjoon would've peeked to see yet no one said a word. both boys glanced at each other with a shrug knowing how there was something off.

"hey, nams!" hangyeol called out, peeking from the top bunk. "wanna verse me to see which one of us is smarter than a fifth grader?"

the said boy turned from his laying position, peeking from under to shake his head before placing his earbuds back in. as dejected as hangyeol was, he quickly moved on to the grey haired male but before he could, yoongi was already staring at him, as if saying he wanted no part of their gags.

"damn, why is everyone so salty all of a sudden?" he grumbled.

"period?" shiwoo suggested.

"idiot, men don't pee blood," the former smacked him on the head. "unless you got serious problems. wait— even fifth graders know thatㅡ"

the sudden sound of a ringtone resounding inside the cabin shook both boys, causing them to peek down towards namjoon.

"oh, jooyoung!" he smiled.

this caused yoongi to flinch a little, looking up from his phone with furrowed brows.

"right now? yeah sure, i'm free," he slowly got up from his bed, slipping on his shoes while he chatted on the phone. with a jacket around him, he slowly walked to the door but not without giving yoongi a knowing look. with that, he left the three boys alone who were stumped.

"holy shit, namjoon's getting some!" shiwoo cackled like a madman at the imagination he had in his mind.

the thought only sent yoongi livid. this wasn't what was suppose to happen. he liked jooyoung, much more than what he had imagined but seeing his friend cutting in the picture was more than painful. and now here they were, calling each other late at night talking about god knows what. and shiwoo definitely wasn't helping, nor were the loud cheers of hangyeol.

and the hell was that look for?

"can't believe it's him first," hangyeol wheezed. "what the hell? did he pick her up with some lame ass math questions or somethingㅡ"

yoongi paid no mind and grabbed his coat, messily wearing his shoes.

"hey, where are you going?"

he was going for it. yoongi wasn't going to hide his feelings anymore— he was going to man up, straight up tell her about it. and if he was rejected; god, he didn't even want to think about it but if he ever was, then he was going to give namjoon a good punch to the face as a congratulatory sign. he cursed under his breath at the thought, opening the door with clammy hands.

screw it.
