The Murder

Chapter 11

CHAPTER 11- It got worse 

"Regan are you ok?" asks my mom when I walk into the house. 

"I'm fine, Jake and I just broke up but it's fine. Welcome home from the hospital," I force a smile and walk up the stairs to my room. 

"Hey how did it go?" Shelby asks as I walk in. Ugh I forgot she was staying here. 

"Shelby, I'm sorry you were right I replaced you with Hannah and that was a bitchy move. I'm sorry. You will always be my best friend. You. Thanks for telling me the truth about Jake. I'm sorry I didn't believe you. He is a dick and he was cheating. I should've believed you, but instead I almost had sex with him. Shelby, I'm sorry." 

"Regan. It's ok. I know it's hard. I'll always be here for you though. I'll always be here and I'll always tell the truth. No matter what. Now come here. You need a hug," she smiles and hugs me tight. I love her hugs. They make me feel wanted.

"Well, what now?" I asked. 

"Now we need a girls day. Maybe go to the spa or something?" at first this sounds like a horrible idea but I realize after this morning I need some relaxation so I agree and we go. 

We get manicures and pedicures and go to Hollister because who can resist those sexy models? I mean Channing Tatum was a model and he's like the sexiest man alive. So looking through all the Hollister clothes I see him. 

"Look who stalked you," Shelby smirked my way. 

"Shelby, I'm sure he didn't stalk me he just happened to be here. Can we please go now? I really don't like even looking at him," I start heading to the door when Shelby being the person she is goes the opposite direction. 

"Shelby, what are you doing?" I whisper harshly so Jake can't hear. 

"Relax, Regan I'm just going to go talk to him, maybe go off on him? Who knows but I'm going to go over there. You can't hide from everything Regan," Shelby is right. I can't hide from everything, so I do what any stupid person would do and follow my best friend. 

"Hey cheater," Shelby accuses Jake right off the bat. 

"Who are you?" he snaps back obviously annoyed. 

"Oh, don't start getting pissed at me big boy you know what you did, I know what you did, and you know practically the whole town knows what you did? The person you did it to was my best friend," Shelby says back. 

"You know what?! I made a mistake! I am only freaking human! I was going to break up with Haley and tell Regan. I promise, but I didn't want to ruin our first time with some stupid girl. Haley meant nothing to me. Regan meant everything. I mean after what I did to her friend--- uh I meant after what I did to her---" 

"Woah, hold up Jake," I started coming into the conversation, "what friend? What did you do to my friend?! You and I both know I had two friends, Shelby and Hannah. From what I can tell Shelby is okay, and Hannah is," I gasp realizing what this means, "Hannah is dead," I finish with a whisper and tears starting to come up. 

"No, Regan you got it all wrong. Why would I kill Hannah? You loved her and I loved you," Jake says sweat starting to pour out. 

"Oh BS, Jake, BS! You don't love me! You never did love me! You cheated on me Jake! So why should I believe that you didn't kill Hannah? You know every piece of evidence points to it. Where were you on the day of her murder? When I texted you, you said you were busy. Hmm is that a coincidence or what?" I ask giving him 10 seconds to answer. 

"Regan, I was at Haley's when Hannah was murdered. You have to believe me. I know the fact that I was at Haley's was dickish and I'm sorry but I would never murder your best friend!" he tries to cup my face but I just swat him away and snap at Shelby. 

"Shelby call the police now. I think I found the person who murdered my best friend." 

"Security is already on their way," Shelby and I smile and take pleasure at looking to Jake's worried face.  

"Jake Rankton, you are under arrest for the murder of Hannah Watson, please follow me this way," the Security lead Jake out of the store and into the police cars.  

"Regan please! Believe me! I didn't do it!" I ignore the screams of Jake and walk with Shelby to get some ice cream. 

"You know Shelby, I'm glad this whole Hannah case is over. I feel like Hannah is smiling down on me right now. I feel great!" I shout with joy and hear my phone ring. 

"Oh, excuse me Shelby, got to get that," I smile and she nods as I pick up the phone and she orders our favorite flavor of ice cream, black raspberry chip, "hello?" I answer the phone. 

"Regan, it's dad. I'm coming to pick you up right now. Our house, it has been bombed and mom, Danny, and Ryan were in it. They are in serious condition. Whoever the murderer is wants us dead. All of us but you. Regan watch out," cautions my dad. 

"Dad, it was Jake. He must've planted the bomb and had just enough time to come to the mall and wanted to wait to see my face well too bad. He's in jail now. It's all over. As soon as mom, Danny, and Ryan get better it is all over dad," I say confidently. 

"Honey, I'm proud of you. As soon as mom, Danny, and Ryan get out of the hospital. If they get out of the hospital, we are going on a vacation," and I could tell the worry in his voice that they weren't going to get out, but I was confident they were. 

"Alright dad, I'll be waiting," and I waited for my dad to come get me, because Shelby was gone.
