F

lames of desire scorch my restless heart

Flames that seek vengeance—flames that do not part

The Serpent’s venom seeps into my soul

Wretched Serpent, thy name is Iago

I, yearning to repay a deed most foul,

Round these vast walls of no means and no how

Mine true desire left to be unclaimed :

‘Twas but my radiant Desdemona

She, the burning fain craving of my heart

Is hotter than that of my mere revenge

Oh, angelic skin untouched by the sun

Enticing lips : luscious and temptatious

Alas, in heaven, we shall reunite

And betrayal’s vengeance will be obtained

So, as to right the wrongs of treachery

The Moor and Iago will burn for sins

And we shall thrive in marvelous union

With this, I part, but we will meet again

This is a poem/solioquy in the POV of the ghost of Roderigo from Shakespeare's Othello. He doesn't actually show up as a ghost in the play, but I did want to write this from a unique perspective, as he is in the afterlife here. It's not a true sonnet, but it has the same rhythm essentially.
