That question made James' heart race.
He gulped.
"U-uh--S-sure, yeah." he replied, his face turning red.
"Alright. Truth or dare?" Jaiden said, smiling at James innocently.
"T-t-truth?" he said, anxious of what Jaiden would say.
"Is it trueeee....You like someone?" Jaiden asked, looking at him.
"Y-y...Yes." James replied, trying to calm himself to not make anything obvious.
"Okay!" she giggled a bit.
Darn, she is cute! James thought, trying to control his face's redness.
"Uhm...Truth or dare?" James asked as he sat down, munching on a cookie.
"Truth." she answered, smiling at James.
"Is it trueee...You...L-like..Uh.." James started.

"Nevermind." he finished.
"Wait, no! Let me hear it!"
"It's nothing, Jai." James said, rubbing his neck awkwardly.
"Pleeease? I'll do anything!" she replied.
"Hm...F-fine." he said.
He couldn't hold himself back. She was too cute when she begged. It was too adorable for him. He didn't know how to deal with it, so he gave in to her request.
"Is i-it true...Y-you like..M-me?" James asked, screaming inside.
Jaiden's face went red.
"I kn-know the an-an-answer is n-no." he added, rubbing his arm, frowning.
"You're right." she said.
"I don't like you." she added.
James' heart sank. Why did he even bother? He knew the answer. Of course Jaiden didn't like James. Jaiden was precious and adorable, and James was...James. Ugly, insecure, awkward, and annoying. Nobody would ever love him. Because he was like this. All the time. Tears streamed down his cheeks.

His tears immediately stopped.
"Wait, what?" His eyes widened as he tried to make sure he heard everything right.
His face was super red. Jaiden thought it made him look even cuter.
"Yeah. I like..R-really like you? I'd maybe even call it love? 'Cause you're precious and adorable, plus cute? And I didn't say anything? 'Cause I'm ugly and you're not?" Jaiden said, looking up at him, since she was shorter than him.
"What? You are adorable and cute, and I'm not." James answered.
"What? No, you got it mixed up." Jaiden said.
"You're adorable and cute and I'm u--." Jaiden started.
"No. Just..Whatever." he said.
"So..Wait, does this mean...You wanna be like..Girlfriend? And boyfriend?" James asked.
"Uh...Yeah." she replied.
"Yeah, I do."
