Battlefield (starring Dom Herman-Day and David Henrie)

It was early autumn. The leaves were just turning but they hadn't started falling yet. I was sitting in the courtyard of Artemis Academy with my friends Rose, Maria, and Jasper. We were listening to Jasper's latest cover song on Youtube. Pumped up Kicks by The Fosters. He did really good on it and was really proud of himself. We were about to go our seperate ways home as the school day had just ended, when I saw Spencer Veil across the courtyard. He was the leader of The Richies. The resident rich  kid gang. And lately, he hadn't left me alone.  "Quick, hide me!" I whisper-yelled to my friends. But it was too late. Spencer had seen me and headed in our direction followed by his best friends, Leo Norton and Stone Martin.

"Afternoon, Valencia," He said in his British accent, "Care for an escort home?" He may have seemed like he was being a gentleman, but the thing is, it's impossible to refuse Spencer Veil. Oh, you can try, but he won't let you. Still I said, "Not with the likes of you, Veil!" Venom dripping from my words.

"Come now, Val!" He said it like we were old friends, but the fire in his eyes said that he was not happy with my response, "I'm just looking out for a lovely lady!" He grabbed my upper arm. His grip was tight. It hurt a little, but I'd gouge out my eyes and eat them before I gave him the satisfaction of knowing that.

"Just leave her, Spencer!" Jasper exclaimed from beside me. "What are you going to do about it, fag?" Stone said, getting up in his face. Jasper stood paralyzed, mouth hanging open. He'd never been good with comebacks. It's true that Jasper is the only openly gay guy in the school.

"It's okay, Jasper. I'll go with him. I can handle myself." I said with the gentlest voice I could. "But, Valencia...!" Maria protested. I stopped her with a look. "Are you sure you'll be okay?" Rose asked with a knowing look.

"Yeah, yeah, she'll be fine!" Spencer burst out, "Come on, Newton!" I didn't even dignify what he said with a response. I just followed. I looked back to see that Leo and Stone weren't following. Stone went back to harassing Jasper, who was now crying. Rose stood up and started yelling at stone, who started yelling back. Maria was comforting Jasper and Leo... Leo was looking on the scene with saddened eyes. He looked up and our eyes met. Then he turned and walked away.
