One year later, everything changed. The gang had entered high school. The situation between Mike and Max had gotten less awkward but it didn't mean they haven't been throwing small insults at each other.

Jane is exploring herself more and is trying to find herself, Dustin had found himself a girlfriend, Lucas and Will are single pringles (not for long), Steve scored a job and made a new friend whose name is Robin, and Erica is just... Erica.

"Max, how does this look on me?" Jane asked, holding up a blue dress that reached down above her knees.

Max scrunched up her nose. "Too short. I don't want boys or girls staring at you."

"Why are you so protective over me?" Jane laughed, placing the dress back in its rightful place before searching for more outfits.

Max playfully rolled her eyes. "You're my best-friend, El. I don't want anyone thinking of you like that right now. Besides, you're bodacious. Everyone wants you."

"Bodacious?" Jane tried to hold back her laugh since she was in public and didn't want any attention on her.

"Yeah. Bodacious. What's wrong with that?"

"Nothing, Max... nothing." Jane released small giggles before grabbing Max's hand and leading her to other stores.

"I don't understand. You... have a girlfriend?"

Lucas, Mike, Will, and Dustin were seated on the ground of Mike's basement, forming a small circle.

"Yeah. I have a girlfriend. What's the issue with that?" Dustin sounded a bit offended. He always wondered why his friends thought he would be the last person on earth to have a girlfriend. He was cool enough to have one ... right?

"Okay, guys. This sounds very interesting but can we talk about something else? I don't want to start off this day talking about relationships." Will cuts in, sighing at the topic of the day.

"You don't like anyone, Will? You've never had a crush on anybody?"

"No. I don't want anyone. I don't like anyone and I never will."

"What about Max? Ever had a crush on her?" Dustin stated, making Mike tense at the mention of her name.

Mike just rolled his eyes. "Don't bring her up, Dustin."

"I'm just asking, Mike," Dustin also rolled his eyes at his other best-friend before turning his attention back to Will. "So, have you?"
