The world was suffering.
People clung to whatever little bit they had to survive, and this caused a very unwanted and destructive war.
People who have the ability to use their aura, used it against one another in order to survive. Aura has been around for centuries, and harnessing its abilities has become the most exceedingly advanced practice their is. One may become socially important just by the abilities or bloodline they have based on Aura alone. This was main weapon people used against one another.
From the war, there had emerged to different sides, both fighting for the same reason, however with very different means of going about it. On one side, the Rebellion was an effort to hold onto whatever the remaining resources were left. "Conserving" was their solution to stop the problem. If everyone had stopped to conserve, the human race could survive a lot longer than they had currently predicted. However on the other side of this war, was the Faith. The Faith wanted to find ways to bring back the prosperity of the land and develop a way to sustain the world indefinitely. To simply have "Faith" in humanity's sturdy and resourceful thinking.
One by one everyone seemed to die for each faction's own volition. The war had raged for years and years, only to have ceased when both sides were seemingly vanquished. Whatever was left from their catastrophic morality only seemed to make it extremely clear that humanity was doomed from the start.
From what has been expressed to the general public, is that the Rebellion, although previously thought to have also been eradicated like the Faith, had lived on.
I remember when my family and I traveled to Syn, A new country that had been brought into existence because of the war. The people from that land had advertised the many resources it had come to harbor due to the residue of remaining aura that seeped into the ground. This had only brought more hope for people to depend upon, and so me and my family along with millions of other families traveled to live in for what I had never experienced before; luxury.
However, at what price does one pay to live in such a place that doesn't exist?
I was only 12 when my parents were killed by the Government of Syn. What at first seemed like a paradise for those who were in need, was as quickly as transparent as it was new and unknown. There was never any plan to willingly give the people it's needs, but rather pay with their lives to live luxuriously.
A scam, a facade, a mere trap. That is what this country really was. This only broke humanity even more than it had already been. The porcelain of an antique bowl could afford very minimal cracks in it any longer, for it would surely break if it did so.
The story that is about to become known to you is not at all a story for the weak. It is a story of selflessness, treachery, defiance, and bravery. If you expect a very happy and seemingly unrealistic idea of such things then this book will surely disappoint. Beyond this point will ensure your morality is at risk, and that what you feel will have purpose within it. This is beyond your imagination,
this is,
Beyond a Shadow.
