Prologue:
I'm not sure how it all started. I just know that what ever happened it was worth the ride. The first memory I have was when he looked at me. I was sitting in the hospital bed and he was down the hall in the waiting room. He was the first sight beautiful thing I saw when I woke up after the accident. My mom made my tag along with her as usual to the near by grill with a bar. As usual she would go to the bar and order a beer while I would go and hang out with the staff in the back. We came there so often it was like a second home to me. An hour went by which soon became 2 and then became 3. no sign of my mom coming to get me out from the back of the restaurant. At 9:33 I decided to go to the bar and see what happened to my mom. she was still sitting in the same chair. only she had 3 shot glasses sprawled over the table as well 3 empty beers with one in her hand. I went over to her and tapped her she turned around, looked me up and down and then slurred her words and said "Oh Jess, there you are I’ve been looking all over for you"
"Mom?"I said, "ummm... are you drunk?" this was very awkward for me to ask my mom, I had never seen her drunk before.
"HaHa! lets go home!" she slurred. This is so unlike my mom. Yes, I admit she does seem like the kind of person who would get drunk like this all the time but there must be something really bothering her that would make her want to get it off her mind this bad. She stumbled off the chair and into my arms.
"Im fine" she breathed into my face. "Come on we need to get some rest" I gave her a funny look. she leaned on me as we walked outside to the car. I helped my mom get the keys out of her purse she dropped them about 5 times before she got them safely in her hand.
"Mom I don’t think you should drive," I said with uncertainty "maybe we should call a cab and pick the car up in the morning."
"Jessica! I can not believe you!" she half yells half laughs at me "You think that just because I had a few drinks I cant drive! I feel perfectly fine."
"But mom I really think--" she cuts me off
"But nothing, you should trust your own mother!" Have i ever put you in a dangerous situation? Don’t you trust me?" I wasn't sure what to say next. I answered the questions I my head and she has been responsible for me for all 13 years, I can trust her.
"Ok mom lets go" we both hoped into the car. My mom put the key in with my help and she pulled out of the parking spot quite smoothly. As we where driving home the ride felt natural like it always does coming home from the grill. I started to get tired I closed my eyes. Before I knew it we where home safe and sound with out a scratch on either one of us.
"Honey."
"Yea." I say
"Would you mind taking the trash in with me before we go inside?" My mom asked
"Yea, sure." We both walked to the bottom of the drive way to bring in the trash. while we where coming around to the street side I heard the wheels of a car screech. I turned my head and there was a big light coming right at me.
And now here I am laying in this hospital bed, where I saw him for the first time.
